having very large ember is large ember needed anyway?

Hello folks
I haven't got the large ember jet because I haven't been in The Depth yet.
My theoretical question is: If I manage to get the very large ember from the New Londo area Is this enough for upgrading normal weapons to higher then +5 or do I need the lerge ember anyway?

I'm reasonably certain you need the large ember to upgrade from +5 to +6. The very large ember can do the +10 to +11 without the large ember, though.

Yep you need it alright, found that out the hard way. Breezed through new londo on an sl1 because capra was driving me nuts, had to trudge back to capra after my dissapointment.

I see, the appropriate ember ist needed for each quantum jump.
