im almost sure the demons souls archstone sword is just a shortsword with a few rings on it!
i never really liked the look of the one on the bonefire though... idk why..

I actually noticed it the other day. No weapon looks even close to it, but then its not extremely sword like, or even dangerous looking.

I spent my first playthrough wondering if you could get the sword, but alas, I've since given up hope.
I don't even recognise that there's a sword there anymore, to me a Bonfire is just a roadblock unless it's in Anor Londo or it's the Daughter of Chaos fire.

I never understood why the swords are there in the first place. Just to make the bonfires more recognizable when they aren't lit I guess. Or to make it a more iconic symbol, a simple bonfire would certainly be too bland. Is there any other meaning besides these?

If you take a reeeeeeaaaaalllllllllly good look at the swords in Dark Souls, they're very reminiscent of a fire poker......
