It was a going away present.

They've unlocked Recon for every player in Halo 3, now it's just another set of armor like in Halo Reach and Halo 4.

In Halo Reach the Skull Helmet is the new Recon, since it requires max rank, and in Halo 4 Mark VI is the new Recon since it requires you to beat the game on Legendary.

I really want to play Demon's Souls, if PS4 has backwards compatibility I'm planning on switching over just to play Demon's Souls.

PS4 won't have backwards compatibility for the same reason why every iteration of PS3 doesn't have backwards compatibility: It's a new chip with a different architecture.

Having worn myself out on both Souls games, I've taken a step back and played other games and realised for myself that Souls are not the end all, be all in gaming. Games for me are first and foremost about the experience, and any game can illicit a positive and wonderful experience. I'm currently rediscovering my love for RPG's, specifically jRPG's because they're such a wonderful medium for storytelling without overly complicated game mechanics. Similarly, Journey is a game all about the experience without so much as a narrative, but you live through the protagonist's journey, and it's compelling.

I'm also able to enjoy brogames like Army of Two because I play it with my girlfriend, and we're able to enjoy just co-oping with one another and strategising. The story isn't compelling or interesting and the gameplay isn't top notch, but it's playable and we can coordinate. The experience is in playing together, just like in LBP.

My point is, I used to think about other games like you as well, that Souls ruined other games for me, but having taken a step back from Souls, I've come to realise and rediscover my love for gaming in general, for the many ways in which positive experiences can manifest through different genres and different game mechanics.

Well I have a sad now if I can't get a PS4.

I guess I'll buy a cheap one from someone around the PS4's release date, and pick up Demon's Souls.

It's one of those games where I REAAAALLLY want to play it, but can't.

They do plan to offer backwards compability through online streaming.

I'm sure you can get a Super Slim at a decent price with nice prebundled games. Or check eBay or Craigslist for secondhand Slims. But I wouldn't recommend getting a PS3 for DeS as much as I'd recommend getting an Xbox for Halo.

As do I, the last forum I was on turned into /b/ rather quickly once mods lost the power to ban for parody threads, and the censor filter was almost removed.

If Sony actually comes through on a major promise (something they have dropped the ball on a good deal in the past....looking at you PSP remote play) then it will have backwards compatibility just through their Gaikai acquisition. I've seen a glimmer of the tech via OnLive giving me a free game to make an account before and it's promising for sure.

As for Demon's Souls specifically, since it's already a PSN game it's likely that it would be an early convert to streaming services, particularly due to the rabid fanbase (that got it anointed to PS+ recently to rave reviews).

Until it happens and happens well, skepticism is definitely warranted however (I'm looking at you Vita remote play)


Also, it is good to break away. I took frequent Skyrim breaks this year and last and currently I'm having a blast with inFamous.

I started playing through inFamous 2 and though I'm bothered by the art style and the different VA, I'm enjoying it as much as I did 1.

To be honest, I'm decent with it, and have killed a couple people, but I still have problems fighting some people.

I'm having a bit of trouble Dead-Angling shield turles, I've never really seen someone do it so I have no clue how to do it.

I can't dead-angle, so if we fought I wouldn't even attempt it.
