The i-frames on that thing are insane. As an SL1 you cannot afford to get hit, even once, by most enemies. And you don't have a lot of stamina either, so if you try blocking your guard will be broken very easily.

Fire Bombs are incredibly useful. You can easily beat Seath with them only.

Black Firebombs help so much on the O&S fight if you're fighting Super Smough.

    Dark wood grain ring.

Fire weapon and a regular weapon.

Enforced club is your best friend.

Red tearstone ring against certain, if not all, bosses.

Crystal ring shield against Four kings (Enforced by magic shield)

Dusk crown and bellowing dragoncrest ring (Though I advice you to consider this a last resort
option. It takes away the challenge).

Cloranthy ring, on your second ring finger.

Mask of the child, just in case.

    Pyromancy under certain circumstances.

    Kill Ornstein first.

    Great combustion and/or Great fireball.

Rely more on dodging, rather then blocking. On later NGs, blocking will be next to useless.

Power within, if you are not confident enough to activate your tearstone.

Use a dragoncrest shield against Quelaag, and ALWAYS go left.

Always dodge to the right when fighting Artorias.

    (More to come)

    Havel's Ring.

Your mainstay weapon is 4.0 weight (Reinforced club) many good shields are 3.0 and you don't get any more End than what you start with, if you hope to ever wear non robe armor, or be able to hold a lightcrossbow as your weapon swap you'll need the extra equip load.

Wolf, BDCR, RTSR Dorkmoon Seance and DWGR are the other rings I use.

Note: It's often very nice to wear the Seance ring to attune something like combustion (to clear out mobs) or PW (cast at fog) then you can swap on a different ring once you've used up the spell or buffed yourself.

That 9 dex will make you mad at every turn.

Havel's Ring, Darkwood Grain Ring, Red Tearstone Ring, Wolf Ring, Bellowing Dragoncrest Ring, Crown of Dusk, Family Masks, Crest Shield, Grass Crest Shield, Dragon Crest Shield, Balder Shield, Pyro Flame, +15 Fire and Lightning, Light Corssbow, Hand Axe and Reinforced Club, descend the Occult Club in Anor Londo to divine for Nito.

^These are just about all the items you are bound to use at some point in the game. At SL1, armor is pretty useless, no poise, hyper mode for most bosses.

I may sound like a douchebag, but sl 1 run isn't that difficult at all if you use pyro. You can cheese so many bosses simply by spamming 8 great combustions and 4 great fireballs. So, my advice would be: go through the game with melee only! This will improve your dodging skills a lot and you really have to pay attention and learn the attack patterns of bosses and enemies.

I used hand axe, reinforced club and jagged ghost blade. Also, unlike a lot of people say, not that many enemies will oneshot you even in ng+ if you take the time to upgrade your armor. It makes a huge difference. That's why i personally used FaP/Wolf as rings. FaP for the stamina and equip load rather than the HP.

I very rarely upgrade my armour unless it can be upgraded via Twinkling. So my first SL 1 run was done entirely with unupgraded armor, and very few attacks one-shot me. Although the ones that did were all attacks that do huge damage, such as Quelaag's explosion and Super Smough's lightning slam.

I agree that you should try to avoid using Pyromancy. Its far more entertaining to rely on your skills, rather then spamming the R1 button and occasionally dodge every now and then.

As for the armor and one shot thing. The enemies are not a very big threat in NG or NG+, but once you reach NG+4 and onward, things get hell-of-a-lot-more risky. Especially when you run through the world with nothing but Heavy boots, gloves and a bloated soccerer head.

Yeah, i don't really know why people say "everything will oneshot you, armor and hp is useless". It's been a while since i did challenge runs but i don't remember it being that bad.

Claiming everything will one shot you really is an exaggeration. The thing about armor on SL1 is, that the weight burden is too much and the defense the armor is providing you with is too underwhelming, on a later NG+.
It does protect you against One shot-ing enemies, but with the poor mobility, you are better off without.

Regular enemies can not one shot you, but they can stunlock, and light armor provides no poise, as for bosses, slower and stronger, many of them will require tearstone (especially on later NGs), which means you will get one-shotted regardless.

However, most of SL1 accessible armor looks really good

I have a SL1 build and pyros help but I don't think the cheesed the game for me. I still had to learn to dodge even using pyros.

    My advice, learn to dodge.

I would also agree that pyro makes it much much easier. And if you're willing to give up fast roll, once I got giant's armor the game was pretty much just a normal playthrough.

What I don't see anyone mentioning is the hand axe. I can't stand the move set on the reinforced club so I went with the hand axe. There were times where I would have liked that extra damage but overall I'm glad I went with it. It also allows for the build I used as soon as I got to the giant smith:

    http://mmdks.com/2ctt

Edit about the "much much easier" comment: I used solaire at every fight I could, which makes a major difference in some fights.
