The Painted World Empty The Painted World

    Post by Wilkinson3424 Sun May 19, 2013 8:17 pm

Why is it in the middle of an old cathedral in Anor Londo?

    Who is Ariamas?

Why is it populated by undead, and a half-breed?

Why is there a rotting dragon sitting on the bridge?

Perhaps Ariamas was a god, who made a place for all exiles to go which explains the dragon, the undead, and the half-breed, being there?

Someone help me, I need some pieces to the puzzle, this place is one of the biggest Mysteries in Lordran.

The Painted World is simply a place for the God's to throw everything they don't like away.

They don't like pyromancy, so it goes in the Painted World.

They don't like the fact that Priscilla can kill them, into the PW she goes.

They don't like Occult weapons, so they hide the means to make them.

Thanks, but there is still alot of mystery to that place, like why you can get in with the doll, etc.

    The doll belonged to Priscilla.

There's probably some kind of magical force within the doll that draws you into the painting.

It seems that in the world of Dark Souls, special items belonging to special people get a connection the the people that owns them.

Take the broken pendant for example, I know the one that pulled you back in time was Manus himself, but I suspect that the Broken Pendant played a part in it as well.

(My own speculation: I think that when Priscilla was young she was treated badly, and she used the doll to find support. When she was taken to the Painted World, she dropped her doll, and an undead to be found it and kept it with him/her. That´s why you find it later in the Asylum.)

Aren't the crow people supposed to be followers of Velka? As the goddess of sin, perhaps Velka herself had some sort of agenda against the gods- I reckon we'll learn more about her in DkS II.

I am very much interested in your speculation DE5PA1R! And your Vid!! Much theorizing has been done on the Painted World, Priscilla, Velka, and related aspects, here in this Section and elsewhere.

There are very few "in-game" clues which leaves the subject wide open for broad speculation and "story" building.

One question whose answer (I believe) would unravel much of the mystery is why the doll is in The Northern Asylum on a male corps in the Chosen Ones' cell.

Some have said that it is because Priscilla was held there. But that speculation has no "clue" foundation and makes little sense.

I would very much love to enter into dialogue with you, DE5PA!R regarding this most intriguing mystery. I, myself, have some speculations I would very much like to share and would value your input! big grin

This is true; for the most part we must rely on out-of-game clues.

Looking forward to our discussion. I promise I'm working on my part.

Oh, and Miyazaki addressed the blacksmith during an interview; he basically said the blacksmith statues don't have lore significance.
