- Part one:
- Demonic Apostles:
- Will magic. "A unique source of power that lays dormant in all human beings". This powerful inner force can be utilized to channel spells, usually chaotic in it´s nature, but not always so. Will magic was only recently discovered by scholars, but further studying shows that only a few individual can use it.
Usually having a wicked mind, these "Demonic Apostels" usually associates themselves with demonic being, following an unnamed demon located deep with their temple. Utilizing their will to fulfill their goal, they strive forward, growing stronger as they take damage, making a fight against them feared by all sane creatures.
There is a downside though, being closely linked with Demonic creatures make their minds and bodies, making them very unstable. As they are hit their bodies degrade, making them more and more feeble until they eventually fall.
Perhaps their power can grow on par with the gods if they are determined enough?
- Blighted:
- In the deepest parts of the Great Swamp, many kinds of vile arts where born, an example being the infamous "Toxic Cloud", created by a now exiled pyromancer.
There where a few that followed his teaching, but when their master got exiled they where spread thin, roaming the world in search for a purpose. Their heritage from the Swamp forces many of them to live in poverty, practicing their arts in secret. Because their master where banished, their magic art are slowly dying, with only a few of them practicing it today.
Most of the remaining practitioner have embraced the filthy art of their former master, now searching to perfect it. Utilizing deadly diseases and plaques, these so called "Plaquemasters" are a feared opponent.
- necromancer:
- The darksign brands humanity, forcing them to be reborn at the nearest bonfire every time they fall in battle, but not all humans are cursed. This takes away the purpose of life itself. Some individuals want to unlock the secrets behind life, and in turn the darksign itself. These study the art of the dead, Necromancy, and many of them are unstable humans with feeble minds.
Learning about life has forced them to learn about humanity itself, unlocking the secrets behind sanity and life. Using neither faith nor the soul arts, the necromancers pray to a long forgotten god, using a bastardization of miracles to fulfill their twisted needs.
Even though necromancers are twisted people, perhaps they might be the ones that unlock the secret to immortality without the darksign, or maybe even the secrets behind the darksign itself.
- Ice mage:
- By Soris Ice Goldwing:
The Mages of ice are interesting at best. These mysterious mages have studied and crafted a form of magic based on ice and the power it lies. They are quite the opposite of pryomancers in almost every regard and have little respect for the flame or fire in general. However that very dislike of fire makes the ice mages hated as well, one of few things pyromancers have in common.
The magic of ice stems from souls magic. How was that even possible is something only the ice mages themselves know as they worked to create it. It can be said to be a new magic but ice magic is a powerful type to wield. The spells themselves can be said to be counters to pyromancy and shares a bit in common with soul magic. How many spells of ice there are is unknown but rumors spread about how the best mages know of the strongest and...coldest spells. One thing is for certain, Ice magic was made for both offensive and defensive use, as well as environmental uses.
Frozen mages are the best known as they are the most basic users of it, the graduated class of them. The real ice mages are almost unknown and may not even exist. The reason is that the older and more experience ones are like shadows. They prefer secrecy above all and blend in perfectly with the outside world. The frozen mages are known for their cyan shrouds but mostly for their icy aura they have. Common belief is that the higher ones have that aura perfectly concealed and can it use it as an actual attack cold enough to freeze weak beings. All ice mages are known for being everywhere in the world, even where Pryomancers are. Perhaps to study their enemies of the element of ice...
- Assassin:
- There are some people on this planet skilled in the arts of unfair combat... and then there is Assassins.
Usually employed by by royalty and noble folks, the assassins employ deadly poisons and vile tactics to finish of their enemies. Stealthy warriors, the assassin works from within the shadows to strike where the enemy is most vulnerable.
Most assassins are trained in a loosely connected organisation called "The battlemasters". They´re taught to finish of the opponent before they´re even noticed. The school provides the assassins with some basic equipment after finishing their period there. These armaments are strange in their appearance, looking childish and something most adults would never wield.
A few of these people are only assassins in title, preferring to wander the world, searching for excitement, a purpose or maybe something as simple as a normal life?
- Part two:
- monk:
- There are many religions throughout the world, some worshiping fallen gods and some being highly devout towards demonic beings. One of the minor religions worships a pantheon of different gods. The devout that serve their temples are called "Monk". These highly devout persons wish to serve their gods, whether that means that they will have to die on the hands of their enemies.
Most monks are trained in basic swordsmanship, but relies heavily on blessing by the gods. They, unlike clerics or the devout serving other gods, are ruthless in combat, striking as hard as possible to finish the fight quickly. Monks always prefer peace though, and never carries a sword into combat, preferring their staff and the symbolic talisman, representing peace in all things.
They have fierce hatred against evil beings, using holy miracles to smite demonic beings and the living dead. The miracles tell stories of great bravery, strong faith and deep knowledge.
When the darksign began to curse the monks, they set of unto the world in order to find answers on why they where cursed. Did their gods abandon them?
A monk are feared on the battle field, needed as healers and respected as scholars. They are usually unbendable in their strong faith, being one of the most pure faithful order on the planet.
- Exiled nobility:
- By Soris Ice Goldwing:
Guess nobility is not secured at birth or when it is obtained. This once proud and loved noble was stripped of the title the noble once held for so long for a crime very severe and sentenced to exile. Because of this noble's past was one of greatness and respect, to be killed was a too great burden for the exile's homeland to try. Now forced to leave with the items of the noble's past the exiled noble now travels the world in search of something. Is it redemption? Is it a new life? Or is it to become a legend known to the world? Only the exiled noble has the answer to this question.
- Berserker:
- After the age of fire started, many civilizations grew bigger and more advanced, but in some uncharted places there still exists small clans and tribes. When the darksign began to spread through humanity, the tribal leaders began to send out warriors to search for an answer. The strongest of these warriors are called "Berserkers".
These fierce warriors see only the glory of battle, and carry their tribal armor into combat, cutting through enemy lines while absorbing massive damage. Because they´re separated from their clan, they often feel a longing for home. Using this loneliness to fuel anger, they make themselves near invincible on the battle field, giving the opponents a single option to defeat them: outlasting them.
They have a sole purpose with their life: The glory of battle, and for them the easiest way to achieve it is to search for a way to cure the darksign.
- Castoff Slave:
- Slavery is a punishment akin to death for many, but for those cursed with the darksign it goes beyond that, being forced to work forever. But sometimes luck strikes even the lowest of low. The castoff slave´s where a group of enslaved undead being transported to another land, but a storm struck and sunk the ship, leaving few survivors, most of them the slaves.
These now free slaves roam the lands, looking for a purpose in their life, making use of the darksign in exchange for their lack of skill in combat. They wish for home, longing for a place where they can finally settle down.
It seems as if sometimes the greatest heroes come from the most unexpected places... The slaves will no doubt make a name for themselves.
- Woodsman:
- The curse of undeath plaques humanity, and many has set out into the world to find a cure. Most of these adventurers stem from a life of crime, faith or the battlefield, but there are still lands not plaqued by war. People still live there, trying to get by as friends and family hollow... this person is one of them. Having lived the simple life of a hunter most of his life, once he discovered that he was cursed with the darksign he picked up his trusty bow and skinning knife, setting out to cure himself, and perhaps even help others.
Having hunted for the most part of his life has led him to know what to look for in pray, helping him in battle. Living in the woods takes toll on a person, forcing him to adapt to whatever happens quickly, as for example heavy rain could destroy home for him. Knowing how to craft and repair items is also useful, and he brings his knowledge with him wherever he goes.
