How to counter bs fishers?

I need resources on how to counter backstabs and backstab fishers.

Wear a piece of armor of thorns and roll when you see the backstab coming. It'll cancel out the damage.

You can learn to anti backstab.  That would be, moving in one direction and then changing it quickly and backstabbing them yourself.  Sometimes you'll hit them, sometimes they'll do a phantom backstab that results in no damage.

1.) Thorns armor
2.) Wrath of the Gods
3.) Spam R1 with a fast weapon
4.) Unlock from target with a heavy weapon, and swing where you predict they will be.
5.) Learn the many ways to counter-bs, which one of them is what Lunar said.
6.) Fireball the ground around you
7.) Back up constantly. Even if they sprint, they won't be able to get the backstab. Or, at least shouldn't.
8.) Back up to a wall
9.) Don't do anything with too long of an animation. Jump attacks, fire tempest, special attacks like the Moonlight Greatswords R2, all of these make you easy prey for a bs-fisher.

Also, the EASIEST way to backstab someone is when you see them trying to backstab you. When you see them coming with that angle, just a step to left/right and attack will result in a backstab.

@arch number two is one the worse things you can do to counter bs, wog screams roll bs.

You have to learn how to be good at backstabbing to understand how to counter it.

You can only roll BS WoG at a specific range, so if you simply don't cast WoG when they're in that range they can't punish it.

It's also possible to counter the counter BS, Parry R1 spam with fast weapons, roll BS unlocked swings from heavy weapons, Punish GCFB casts.

But that doesn't stop them from being effective ways to deter a fisher from getting your back.

Here is the deal with BS's:  they beat every move in the game.  To illustrate, here's a rundown of what happens when you BS a guy.

-If you BS the guy as he BS's you, you both get knocked down and take no damage.  This is an even trade.
-If you BS the guy as he attacks you, he gets knocked down and takes no damage and your BS animation ends.  This gives you a lot of time to do whatever you want while he's knocked down.
-If you BS the guy and he does ANYTHING ELSE, your BS connects.  You deal a lot of damage and knock him down.

The trade-off for beating literally every other move in the game?  You can only use it when you're behind the other guy.

This is stuff that every PvP'er already knows, but here's the important implication:  you do not beat BS's, you prevent people from getting to your back.  And the key to this is that BS's are a very positional tool.

I see a lot of new players get frustrated with counter stabbing.  They'll complain with something along the lines of, "I tried a counterstab some guy who was BS fishing me but I just got BS'd anyways."  These players (understandably) do not understand how BS's work.  Counterstabbing is not a hard counter to BS's.  It's not really a counter at all.  Counterstabbing is a trick you can use to help position yourself, nothing more.  You still have to do work:  start it to early and your enemy will notice your counter attempt and back off;  move back too much and it'll take too long for him to circle around you, he'll notice your attempt, and again back off; move forward too much and you won't circle around him and you'll just get BS'd.  Etc.

This is just to drive home the point that BS's do not have discrete counters.  The hard but true answer is that there is no easy defense against BS's.  You need to understand spacing, lag adjustment, how and when to unlock to rotate your back, when to give up on beating it and just attack to avoid damage, etc.  There are a lot of tools to deal with BS's, and some positional tricks like counterstab, but they are all situational and you need to learn when and how to use them.  You need to know where the person BS'ing you is going to be, how he's trying to get behind you, what he's going to do if he can't, and you need to know all this stuff half a second ahead of time because of lag.  In essence:
