there will be. I don't see why they would not follow the same form they did with DeS and DaS

Yes.
I doubt they're just going to stop using the Tutorial Method, especially with all the new players.

Re: Tutorial Level, Yay or Nay?
I just hope there's another secret/bonus for the tutorial level. Like in demon souls you can actually beat the boss, and in dark souls if you beat it without running it drops the demon hammer

If they're trying to make the game more accesible I don't think they're gonna skip on making a tutorial.

I don't fully understand Option #3. Isn't every game taught gradually to players?

Not all of the mechanics are taught at the first go. But as the game progresses, if the player didn't learn it by themselves already, there would be a hint towards it.WhatDoesThePendantDo? wrote:I don't fully understand Option #3. Isn't every game taught gradually to players?

Re: Tutorial Level, Yay or Nay?
Oh yes there will be a tutorial level. Will it be easy? Not even close and will not make it easy to play the rest of the game. I have learned that anything in these games are not to mess with ever and the challenge is so worth it. I wonder how many will rage when the first boss, whatever it is kills them a lot.

Maybe there's a way to skip it if you're a veteran.

That wouldn't work with the new sorcery and dual wielding mechanics though. Unless it was instilled throughout the game.DS_Dene wrote:Maybe there's a way to skip it if you're a veteran.

Re: Tutorial Level, Yay or Nay?
It's kind of a tradition among Soul games to have a tutorial. Then again, never know what From may do to give the game a twist, although I'd place my money on there being a basic tutorial.

Re: Tutorial Level, Yay or Nay?
The very first gameplay that was revealed showed the player on top of a broken object. I'm assuming you do the tutorial then you are either dropped on top of the object or you are put inside of it and dropped onto the starting area.

Re: Tutorial Level, Yay or Nay?
If they do have a Tutorial Level the boss better be super-duper tough.
So its kind of like Demons Souls where you will probably die, then the game really starts.
... because dying is what the souls games is all about.
But if you are super-pro-expert you can take on the boss and have the possibility of winning some prize if you are victorious!

Re: Tutorial Level, Yay or Nay?
A slightly more detailed tutorial on the games mechanics would be good. For example, a section that explained the pros and cons of going from hollow to human form in Dark Souls wouldn't have been too difficult, and helped a lot of new players understand a pretty damn important mechanic.

Yes. Simply means they can turn up the difficulty once cleared instead of gradually hold our hand when We will be trying to immerse and figure it out for ourselves

Re: Tutorial Level, Yay or Nay?
A better tutorial than the previous games of the series will improve the learning curve of the game. Throwing people out into the game world without any in depth indicators to core mechanics in this day and age is pretty much criticised by everyone.
It would also stop people whining about artificial difficulty as much. (Hopefully.)

Well there's gonna be one anyways, but I don't see how the tutorial level should be taken out, to be honest. It's also enjoyable

Re: Tutorial Level, Yay or Nay?
i would prefer it to be similar to the tutorial from des, but still be able to be re-visited if the player chooses to do so like the one from dks
I'd like it to be more open ended as opposed to it being linear, but regardless it's only the tutorial-I'll be pleased either way

Re: Tutorial Level, Yay or Nay?
I'd rather just have a tutorial level, for the returning players it won't be much of a challenge and we'll breeze through it easily.
I think just throwing players into the game, especially with the marketing that they're doing, would be a bad idea for new players.

Re: Tutorial Level, Yay or Nay?
I liked the idea of returning to the Asylum, but it was really anticlimactic. I mean, fighting the same boss with a couple new tricks, sized up, and a reskin? And that the Demon Firesage was the EXACT same thing with a fire effect... that was pretty pathetic on FROM's part. They were all enjoyable fights though.Ephexis wrote:i would prefer it to be similar to the tutorial from des, but still be able to be re-visited if the player chooses to do so like the one from dks

well a different boss would have been nice as opposed to basically fighting the same demon again just with the fire aoe attack(and the firesage was a waste, i had imagined it'd be a chaos pyromancer sage type boss. very disappointing when it was just a fire re-skin of the tutorial boss, not to mention fire damage is actually good against the firesage..wth)
but depending on what the tutorial turns out to be, a new boss appearing after coming back could be anything
an example of a new boss appearing at the asylum after returning to it could be like a chained up super undead knight or something that breaks free and roams the asylum
or multiple knights that roam the asylum
(a light weight knight using dex weapons, a medium rolling knight in semi-heavy armor, and a heavily geared up knight with great shield and a large weapon)
btw thanks

Re: Tutorial Level, Yay or Nay?
No matter what we get I want it hard, painful, challenging, and to return to it later with changes that make the area the tutorial take place even harder.
