For example, rolling is a mechanic. Does rolling add depth?

I know for a fact one doesn't.

Nothing needed to be added to the topic title.

If you use the dwgr it adds distance and glitchy I-frames that some players exploit.

Re: Do some mechanics add depth ?
One could say that the abyss adds the most depth to the game, and should thus become the new meta.

Digging adds depth.
Enzyte adds the ability to achieve depth.
Depth adds volume.
The Depths are larely irrelevant.

Re: Do some mechanics add depth ?
Mechanics add depth, because without mechanics, Dks wouldn't be Dks.
It would be like.....
I don't know.
Not Dks though.

Consider that backstabs are a mechanic. Do backstabs add depth to PvP? Are certain uses of backstabs an exploit?

Re: Do some mechanics add depth ?
Thread rhetorical lacks depth.
Answer to title obviously yes.
Ok seriously, what exactly are you asking? It's kinda like asking if there is space in the universe.

Re: Do some mechanics add depth ?
I am asking, do some mechanics add depth? IMO some mechanics do not add depth. For example rolls allow you to ignore peoples attacks. This removes depth from the game because it removes attacking. IMO if people are going to ignore my attacks, I should be able to ignore their rolls.

@Animal This is one of saturday's overly sarcastic treads made in response to a similar thread where saturday feels the answer is so obvious it's appropriate to respond to such lines of discussion as such.

Re: Do some mechanics add depth ?
Yes, some mechanics add depth, for without mechanics we would not have a game, however, some mechanics also undo depth, for if you have 20 options, that all do the same thing, but one is better in every way than all the others, you've not really added depth.
So if your mechanic is that one that is better than all others, than you are taking depth, otherwise, you can only be adding it.
