Boss Summons

Is it common to summon people/NPCs for boss fights? I usually like to kill the boss myself, as it seems to adhere to the story better. I suppose once I get to NG+ I might need it, but I always found I could do it myself in NG without too many deaths (except Artorias CURSE YOU, YOU SON OF A-... ahem). Anyway, I always found it more rewarding to solo it. Some bosses' mechanics seem to fall apart when they have to deal with more than one enemy. Am I weird?

I solo everything, then place my sign to help two or three people. Most of the time, people are either undergeared and are just bad, so they become a liability. But then there's extremely overgeared or modded people. And that's when it gets annoying.

I usually kill everything by myself even when I summon people. I just like giving people free souls:00008:

As a rule, I summon ANY time I see a sign, whether I need help or not.  If someone takes the time to drop a sign, then they want to help.  I'm always game for company.  Plus, you never know if it's a new player trying to earn back some lost souls.

I never really summoned players for boss fights, I would normally just solo the boss. Back when I started though, I would normally put my sign down afterwards and try a bit of co-op for an hour or two.

If I'm lonely, I'll call 1-555-SUMMON-ME, but I can fight solo if I have to.  Hmmm...that's a real phone number. Let me fix that.

Maybe I should have two separate characters: an "I'm awesome, I kill everything," solo character and a, "I win with teamwork," co-op character. I can have my challenge and eat it too.

My internet is iffy. I have never successfully summoned another player and I rarely get invaded. My first playthrough I would summon NPCs when available, then just let the boss beat them up to learn the attacks.

I'll generally just hit summon as I run by, and if they make it, great.  If not, I continue.  I don't wait around much but it can be fun to summon in phantoms as an experienced host and see how they react.  I do try to keep them alive if possible as well.

Lol. I like how, "I do try to keep them alive," was an afterthought.

Past the first playthrough, I prefer to solo bosses since they have less HP that way. It's a nightmare if you go to fight someone like Manus on NG+ and beyond with 2 phantoms and they both die early.

There are some situations where having phantoms can be very useful such as Ornstein and Smough, even if it's just Solaire. Overall though I think I prefer to be summoned to help other people rather than summoning phantoms for myself.

i'm a jolly co-op kinda player. so when i see summon signs i'll summon sunbro or not it doesn't matter. also i often leave my own summon sign for jolly co-op. watching tarkus throw the golem down a cliff just keeps entertaining me.

I usually deal with my bosses alone and summon only for fun, or when the summon seems to be a new player. While I don't drop anything to the new guy, I think he can use the Souls and Humanity he'll gain by playing with me.

When I enter a new area, I always hit an online item. Be it  , or   depends on my current mood.

If I happen to summon, or be summoned by someone with OP gear for the current area, I always  . I don't care if they use MM, got gifted, or farmed it themselves. If I see someone with a elemental weapon in Parish and other early areas I always leave. People like that don't need my help and I don't need their company.

Depends. If I'm in an area infested with invaders, I usually need help so I'll summon. Most of the time I play offline but if I get bored, I'll either summon or drop my sign. The only thing I hate is when someone drops their sign and hangs back making me do all the work. If I have a weak weapon, I summoned for a reason. When that happens I let the person go and stone him out.

The only time this happens to me is with Manus. You could quit your game and you'll reload outside his fog gate. You can backtrack to summon others or use home bone.

First playthrough, I Beat all bosses except BOC, Nito & final boss solo. Then I discovered co-op ing.  Lol.  Now I usually start summoning a helper or helpers right at the beginning, allowing me to stay lower leveled.  PLUS, I've sinned, so invasions by blues and reds are fairly common and with all the glitches and modders now, Helpers are always welcome.

I'll summon often, I've already beat every boss solo, and it's much more fun with phantoms. Oh, so much more fun.

I summon during the first half (up to obtaining the Lordvessel) of my playthrough, when I'm just getting a build started and whenever possible.

I'll also summon for Seath because I'm not used to navigating the Crystal Caves yet.

Since I'm usually human up to the Parish, I might as well summon people and make it a bit easier.

If I'm doing a pve build I'll usually pay offline to enjoy it better.
Pvp build on the other hand, I'll summon anyone who looks up to the task and smash through the game as fast as possible.  Usually it's with a friend though.

This game was made for coop. I can't help but summon people, if they are there.
