Dear, Wiki Admin(s).
            
                I would like you all to know that we've all played Dark Souls enough. Please delete the censored words that are not bad at all. This is a M rated game, therefore anyone who cannot handle "curse" words should go back to playing Mario Kart. Thank you for reading.

Bob it's no secret that game ratings are complete mockery. It's also a fact that people as young as 13 frequent these forums. Many people play this game who do not denote the big M you guys have on the package. We just keep what is appropriate for the community.

Also, having curses open to see lowers the standards of the forum. Having filters keeps the standards high to accompany the tone we ask our posters to set. I'm sure you can appreciate that.

People just bypass it anyway. Not really showing a picture. I know what you mean as I said in the chat, however it is just an inconvenience.

At least fix **** and titanite.

I have to say it's annoying when I wish to talk about c0cktails and it gets filtered.

While we're talking about the chat. You should ban all annoying fonts/colors/big letters being used.

Be happy the forum doesn't censor words like they do in this one forum I looked at last week.
Every censored word came up as (bleep).
I thought it was the funniest thing ever. But serious is right. And bypassing it is against the rules of the forum but it's not enforced as much unless you do it all the time.
Also, people say that cussing is what starts arguments and here on the forum we TRY NOT to start any fights. Even tho it can't be helped sometimes. Right Ser lol

Also, as far as the chat stuff goes. The majority of people who use it, wanted that stuff. So it won't be banned or removed.

They don't even enforce what so ever. If they're not going to enforce the bypassing; they're better off deleting the censor all the way. It only will take 2seconds to delete the censor.

That means, you get a warning 1st and if it continues, you may get a temp. ban. Also, don't forget, the ONLY people able to kick/ban anyone from the forum is a chat mod or the site owners. If they aren't there, no one will be told to stop. Saying no one does anything is a peg against the mod team and just because you don't see them in the chat, does NOT mean they aren't around. They can watch chat without actually being visible. And as Serious said, the censor is there for a reason and I know the admin will NOT remove it.

So you'd rather I chase down and ban everyone just for bypassing the filter? That sounds fairly counterproductive. To be honest there's far more to worry about than guys bypassing a language filter occasionally, if I'm honest.

If "don't curse too much" is in the rules. Then why is there a censor? There is no reason for one.

It's in there because we're not naive enough to believe people will keep to the filter 100% of the time. People will swear sometimes, sure. But like the rule says- not excessively, otherwise it becomes and issue.

Also if we want to get hyper technical, in Dark Souls there really isn't much swearing aside from "Damn" or "There will be hell to pay."  There really isn't much cursing in game and it seems like that was intentionally done to keep the theme and keep things a bit classy.  

Also it might help it if you more so asked to do things rather than try to be pushy about it saying what is what in such a definitive way then talking about how easy you think it is to do.

I'm still arguing it, because I want a change. I'm sure a lot of other people using the chatroom would like the change also.


Also, I know deleting all the censor is easy. I've made and played with my own Chatango room before.

Bob- It's not gonna change. It doesn't matter if you guys don't want the filter. It's there to keep a certain respectability and class in the chatbox. I'd rather be in a chatroom with a filter that people occasionally work around than a chat where obscenities show up constantly.

It's not an issue of difficulty. It's not an issue of if people want it or not. The filter is there to stay for good reason, and it's not going anywhere

Reading a few of these post it sounds like you could do with reviewing some of the words that are filtered in the chat.

I'm somewhat for this. Even just having the ability to turn the filter on or off, or to disable annoying font colors/styles/sizes.

Deleting the censor may be easy, but that is not the point. These rules were put into place for a reason. Things seem to degenerate to the lowest common denominator. So, if curse words were allowed, they would then become acceptable. Then, more and more people would use them, and it would be the norm. There are hundreds of users online at the same times. Having a chatroom laced with profanity would only discourage posting.

If you honestly want it changed, posting here is not the way to do it. Come up with a well thought-out, cogent, and concise argument and present it to Fex (or maybe E) via PM. Don't expect the rules to get changed though. They go against the core foundation of the community she wanted to create.

Now, I suggest we let this topic die. Changing a fundamental driving rule is not something that should be done in public. This is not a debate. This is not "majority rules".

I feel like there is too much passion and effort going towards arguing for what seems to be such a minor thing as "I can't say bad words in a public forum."

I vote to let the topic die.
