The following is my idea on who Tarkus is and what his actions in the game are. I have used some assumptions (of my own and Acidic's) and some information based on parts of the game that were not implemented but whether these are true or not affects the story little. There also may be parts missing and I do need some peoples help to confirm this but I will explain that later. here it goes.
Long ago Tarkus was one of Gwyn's knights. A strong and skilled fighter he was also a great leader of men. When gwyn went to link with Tarkus was one of the knights who followed him. He served Gwyn loyally throughout this trying time and was one of his most trusted lieutenants. However as Gwyn's plans fell apart, chaos ran rampant and seath betrayed the gods Gwyn used his last gambit. Shortly before going hollow he sent Tarkus out into the world with many of his knights to do his work.
Tarkus's first objective was the sunlight altar. Here a statue of the God of War remained and Tarkus was to destroy it. With his knights he stormed the parish and smashed the statue with his sword. However it was her he suffered his first losses. Faced with removing a sacred statue from the world two of his knights lost heart and became hollows. Oe fled further into the parish, desperate to find a new statue while the other fled into the undead burg where he became lost among the streets searching for the way back to Gwyn.
Tarkus quickly moved on to prevent more of his knights becoming hollow. He sent of of his remaining knights down into the tomb of giants to warn Nito of Seath's treacery while the rest moved onto to Sen's Fortress. Unfortunately the lone knight became lost in the darkness of the tomb and fell into despair eventually hollowing.
Tarkus and his knights soon arrived in Sen's fortress. here Tarkus lost many of his knights to the serpent men and traps. In falling many of these knights became hollow and once revived then continued to wander the halls of the fort. Eventually Tarkus and his men trapped the iron golem under the rublle of the archway that lead to aor londo. Before moving on Tarkus left his summon sign in one of the towers so that any more who came to challenge the giant would not suffer as he and his knights had.
Finally Tarkus reached anor londo. TThey moved quickly and soon reached their prize - Ariamis's painting. It is unknown how (though it is believed they use part of Gwyns power) Tarkus and his knights entered the painted world. His skilled knights torn through the hollows and Phalnxes with easy eventually reaching Priscilla's chambers. He and his knights stormed Priscilla and attempted to kill her. However her mastery of invisibility and ice sorcery was too good. One by one his knights fell. Tarkus, duelling her one on one was mortally wounded as he cut the peculiar doll from her belt and snatched it. With the aid of one of his knights Tarkus escaped by falling off the cliff as his few surviving knights laid down their lives to allow him to escape. Many of those fallen knights went hollow and still roam the painted world, protecting the only foe ever to defeat their master.
Tarkus and the surviving knight escaped the painting but Tarkus was too injured to continue. Giving his last knight the doll he held off the guardians so the knight could escape. Before he sent the knight away he told him "If I cannot kill the half breed for Gwyn, I will prevent any of her allies from reaching her. Take this doll, it is the only way in. Hide it as far from here as you can. make sure none can find it." And so the knight left.
It is a while after this point that Oscar rescues the chosen undead from the asylum. The black night does not have the crow to transport him to the asylum so it takes the knight decades to reach the asylum. Some time during his journey the undead is rescued.
The knight eventually turns up at the undead asylum. Venturing in he locates the stray demon and weakens the floor above it to trap anyone who enters into fighting the demon. Moving into the deepest recess of the asylum he finds a vacant cell. Into it he places the doll and then he waits and stands guard for as long as he will live, guarding the doll as his lord told him too.
So what do you guys think? If anyone can spot any inconsistencies please tell me. Also if I have forgotten any black knights in lordran outside of the kiln please inform me so I can figure out how they go tthere. Finally I need someone to go into the painted world in ful tarks gear (armour, shield and sword) and talk to Priscilla to see if she reacts differently.
