Dragonslayer Ornstein Build

Im want to create a build around the Dragonslayer Spear, I know that weapon is sucks but I wanted to do it from the first time I saw Ornstein & Smough in video before I had the game.

I want an SL 125 character, that will use :

Dragonslayer Spear - Ornstein's Armor - Silver Knight Shield...

And maybe an Dragonslayer Greatbow...

Use the leo ring as well. Pump point into vitality and endurance, then faith for the princess guard miracles.

Because that spear need a lot of STR and DEX to hold it 22 and 22, and that spear will be effective only on higher levels...

That's a pretty cool build idea, though I'd go shieldless whenever possible. Ornstein looks so cool slow-walking with his spear in one hand and the other empty.

I know, i will be with no shield when i travel in weak places like Undead Burg, Parish, Darkroot Garden... But in places like Anor Londo, Blighttown, Duke's Archives, New Londo, you want so f*cking hard to put shield on your hand...

It's so bad how they make that spear, extremly high requirments and low damage, but it scales good, it should be much more strong.

And it's so bad that they doesn't include Ornstein's Mane it's called? on his helmet, but still, his armor has the best looking in the game.

Indeed his armor is gorgeous, Im trying to help you but the stat calculator doesnt work when I put points on Faith.....

Just threw this together, though I think you may be able to take some out of END since I'm not sure if the site has been updated since the equip load increase that came in the 1.05 patch. Wearing the RoFaP to compensate for slightly lower VIT and END stats, this should get you full Ornstein's gear + Dragonslayer Spear + Silver Knight shield with a medium roll, as well as having a decent amount of DEX and FTH to take advantage of the scalings. I also threw in some stats towards 2 attunement slots so you can use a miracle or two since you'll have such high FTH, but you may want to relocate those to VIT or END if you don't think you'll need them. Lemme know your thoughts?

If you want to use the DSB, you'll need to crank up the End to make up for it. Here's my recommended stats for you. I'll give you 2 different ones, one with DSB, the other without.

DSB / No DSB
Warrior class
Vit: 50
Att: 8
End: 50 / 40
Str: 30 / 40
Dex: 40
Rest = no change
Wood and Fap Rings

That should get you close to what you want.

Ornstein doesn't use a shield.

Update! Just toyed around with it some more, and if you start as a Bandit or Cleric with what I posted earlier instead of a Warrior you will be able to get one more stat point put in. It's not much but it's something

It's the difference between a clone build and a character build. As long as he uses the full armor set and spear, he'll be fine with using a fitting shield and taking advantage of some of his other stats

EDIT: The more I think about this the more I kinda want to do it myself lol. I may be stealing your idea at some point

Reaper - I like it, but with that Vitality and a medium roll, you'll have to be really careful.

Here's an alternate, slightly less powerful build (no DSB though, unless you want to fat roll).

that will be good stat for DSS
since it have B on DEX & FAITH
just don't forget Leo Ring

Ok SeriousDogg the Dragonslayer Spear scales well with Dex and Faith. With Str scales well too, but I compare

40 Dex 40 Str 24 Faith = 479 AR

40 Dex 24 Str 40 Faith = 483 AR

You can make an Dex/Faith build hybrid with these stats:

Starting class Knight/SL 120

Vit 30

Att 19

End 29

Str 24

Dex 40

Int base

Res base

Faith 40

After 40 Faith the AR doesnt increase. With 50 Faith AR 485, so dont waste them. Use Darkmoon or Canvas Talisman. WoG, TWoP, Bountiful Sunlight, Great Lighning Spear, Karmic Justice or Great Heal. DWGR and Leo Ring.

Edit: You'll need the FAP ring to compensate medium endurance. Sorry no Leo Ring

if you really dont wanna use a shield use the dark hand.

I'm making an Ornstein Build as well and my reccomendations are:

Start As Bandit

ATT 10 If you don't want any miracles leave at 8
END 40

INT 8
Faith 39

Rings: Dark Wood and FAP

Right Hand: DSS - AR = 488
Left Hand: Grass Crest Shield
Left Hand 2: Canvas Talisman

Miracles: Greater Lightening Spear or if you are not so worried about cosplaying so much WOG

Armor = Ornstein, but I would replace the gloves with giants gloves to get poise above 53

Two hand the spear with the shield on your back. Not exactly like Ornstein, but works well. This build I think can even do alright in PVP.

Some modifications can be made by reducing faith and increasing ATT so you can get more miracles etc

Thank you guys, and about the rings i will use the Ring of Favot and Protection, and the Leo Ring
leo ring improves your Thrust attacks? and improves counters (Parry?)
and im not so worry about PVP this build is more for PVE and Co-Op.
And another thing, i will use Very Large Physique.

I read on the other wiki that a counter means when a enemy is about to hit you, you interrupt his attack or at least hit him before he hits you. It also says counter occurs when you hit an enemy immediately after hitting you. Try practicing with the hollows and see the results.
