Post by WyrmHero Tue Mar 20, 2012 2:00 am

That wolf is the Spirit of Sir Artorias' will. His will was so great that it continues to live on.

One of the special rings granted to the four knights of Gwyn. The Wolf Ring belongs to Artorias the Abysswalker.

Artorias had an unbendable will of steel, and was unmatched with a greatsword.

Will: -noun. The power of conscious action or choice.

It is ironic that Artorias, a knight with an incredible will, succumbed to Darkness. Was this his choice? Is the power of the Dark Soul extremely tempting?

So jus tcopy pasted frokm Acidic's thread -
So some further Artorias ideas to go along with my previous post. The
person who told Artorias they could fix his sword? Velka. She was
gaining allies for when she switched to the dark. The reason Artorias's
sowrd was so powerful? Instead of using anothrs soul to forge a weapon
Artorias used his OWN soul to forge his sword. When the sword broke his
soul was freed from the weapon (I'll get to it soon) and he was left
with a shattered sword. Velka fixed it but cursed it and he turned.
Now for his soul that may have escaped but it didn't dissipate. It flew
threw the world tryong to find its body again. Eventually it drifted
back to where Artorias's grave was. Here it attempted to rejoin its
body (much the way anastacia's does) but it could not. Instead it
joined with a wolf club. The poewr of the soul mutated the cub until it
was the size of Sif. The soul also allowed the wolf to wield a blade
by imparting upon it Artorias's skill with a blade. And then the wolf
contnued to watch over the grave hoping one day it could relink wwith
    its previou body.

Didnt say it made a difference... But it is intresting.

Here you have the spirit of artorias in a female wolf... Then we have our friendly dark sun gwyndolin, who is a female in a male body.... Intresting?...no?

I don't think Gwyndolin is a female in a male body. i think he was just raised as a female due to his association with the moon.
    The
power of the moon was strong in Gwyndolin, and thus he was raised as a
daughter. His magic garb is silk-thin, and hardly provides any physical
    defense."

If thats what you think, thats fine.
I on the other hand think that 'the power of the moon' is female(sun male, moon female)

    Post by skarekrow13 Fri Mar 23, 2012 4:22 pm

The name certainly suggests that Sif is a female. They didn't even bother changing the spelling or anything.

Regarding Gwyndolin it sounds like everyone is saying the same thing different ways. The male/female and sun/moon thing is pretty sound and if I read Mildred correctly on the earlier post, she states he's a woman trapped in man's body. DoughGuy is saying that he was raised as a female due to a strong moon association. Seems like both of you said that Gwyndolin is a "he" but with predominantly "she" traits. There might be a chicken and egg argument in there somewhere that could be made but I'm not sure we'll ever be told for sure if Gwyndolin was born with a desire to be a female (Mildred, is this what you meant?) or if Gwyn decided to raise him as female due to what he thought was the right thing to do per moon association (Is this your take DoughGuy?). I think in game evidence supports both but definitely suggests Gwyndolin was treated as female since he was little and if not born embracing this, did so in the end. The idol worship of his sister suggests he wanted to be female while the phrase "was raised as a daughter" suggests it could have been initially against his will. All I can say for sure is I wish my bow shot that many arrows that fast.

i think you've got my meaning Skare. but back onto Sif The wiki says it is a he bu there is no evidence for that, I think whoever wrote the page just assumed. Neithre Sif's soul nor the items made from it give any hint. Also can't find Alvina saying anything about Sif's gender. So who wants to go check which Sif is?

I'm not getting under there for a red rocket check. Primarily because I already beat Sif this playthrough. The only evidence I've seen is the name which is female but since Bambi was a boy deer and is now used mainly for female maybe we should call a vet. For the record, I do think Sif is female

I thought Sif was just a friend of Artorias. and I consider Sif female. It just seems more appropriate for a friend to take up guarding the final resting place.

And I don't think Artorias turned to the dark for malevolent purposes. He's been stated to be a strong willed knight. In fact, the uncursed version of his sword description says he hunted the wraiths down. Maybe like the Witch of Izalith he was trying to find away to either prolong the age of fire or end the dark sign curse?

If you read what I've written about him (in Acidic's thread a page or 2 back) you'll see how I explain that he could have ben tricked. It is very hard to believe he simply turned for his own reasons considering yes, he once hunted them and had a will of steel.

I guess im 50/50 on sif being a friend/pet or the spirit of artorias... I do like the idea that it could be both(as per your ideas doughguy)

about gwyndolin, my view is that the strong moon power is pointing to him have very female traits and female magic, and thus he was raised female to work with and inhance those powers/traits.

@at wrymhero i search high and low, hunted under every rock, listened at doors and spied thru keyholes..... Then i had a look between her legs...
