I have harvested more than 2,000,000 souls, as I always have the silver ring on... even if the Egg hea dsplits the souls factor of half. Of course, I only went threw half of the NG, and two NG++s... maybe in NG+++ also, IDR. But I am in either NG+++ or NG++++ now.
Be warned, their is a flame defence reduction, although i do not notice it much. Just be prepared for that factor, and you'll be fine (Flash Sweat is a nice perk... goes well with the kick animation also)
