Does anyone know if the Thorn Set causes bleed? I was just PvPing while wearing it, and also using the Barbed Straight Sword, and I rolled into my opponent and noticed that he took sizable damage. Not the normal like 12ish that it usually does. I know he had to have some bleed build up already from my sword. I guess I'm wondering if what I saw was lag from a previous BSS attack of if I could have actually caused him to bleed with my armor?

Re: Thorn Set Damage
It was probably lag, the Thorn Set doesn't cause the bleed bar to fill up.

That's kind of a shame. Good to know anyway. I'm still enjoying it. It's a nice way to combat someone whose trying to parry you. Those 12's here and there add up when you're low level.

I'm quite sure it doesn't have a bleeding effect. You probably just had a laggy match.

I'm thinking this too. I was in a FC video actually where someone wore a part of the set (probably the gloves or legs, I'm still not sure) and didn't even realize it until afterwards while watching the video and seeing the 2 damage each roll. Not a single point of bleed damage was done to me that fight :|

Im 99% sure tolvo is right... I have spent a good 10 mins just rolling an invader to death... And never did more than 6 damage the whole time(only had the chest on)Tolvo wrote:It was probably lag, the Thorn Set doesn't cause the bleed bar to fill up.

Re: Thorn Set Damage
I'm wearing the full set and topping out around 12-15. I think you're all probably right. It's still a nice little added bonus. If nothing else it's keeping my enemies on their toes. Whether the damage is miniscule or not people are still going out of their way to avoid it.

Re: Thorn Set Damage
It's really hilarious using it against a person with zero poise. You can stunlock them by simply rolling. But once I was in the receiving end of it. It wasn't that funny anymore

Re: Thorn Set Damage
That's exactly what I was just doing. The guy I was fighting was wearing light armor and trying to block my first attacks and parry my second. So I was swinging once and then rolling into his shield and following up with another BSS slash when he was stun locked. Slowly building up bleed at the same time with my BSS.

The bonus stunlock is the best thing about it...

Re: Thorn Set Damage
This build is my first time really using either the armor or the BSS. I have to say I'm pleasantly surprised by both. I'm really enjoying this build so far.

Re: Thorn Set Damage
I used the thorns set a lot after learning about Kirks connection to the Chaos Servants. Chaos BSS+5 is really good with +10 humanity. Its bleed stacked with the Thorns Shield Bleed really made people fear every move I made.

I would probably be using the shield too but Kirk hasn't dropped it for me yet.

@Chaos servant S I have a Chaos +4 and I haven't used it in Ages, low damage, and the bleed doesnt make up for it.

At lower level PvP it dominates. I was using it to hunt hunters in the forest last night at SL50 range and had the longest streak I've ever had in DkS. I wasn't using a chaos variant however, I was using lightning +5. At lower levels all you really need to do is land 2 or 3 hits to cause bleed and everything dies. It's also quick enough that all that really means is you have to land 1 hit. The others follow extremely easily.

True, I was using it at Sl40 in the forest Farily well, I just have better alternatives now though.

Re: Thorn Set Damage
Throw in the Thorn set's ability to stun lock with rolls and the dark woodgrain ring and you've got a deadly combination. I was really enjoying it. Despite the lightning, which I prefer not to use. After being killed by Japanese kid after Japanese kid, who all seem to use it, I'm starting to believe its just the way to go. Seems like it tends to cut right through defenses. If you can't beat em join em, right?
