Thoughts On The Future

Hey, just opening a thread to talk mainly about weapons and armor of future soul-based games. What would you like to see in terms of new armor and weapons, and would you like to see any items from Dark Souls return in a future game? What kind of special stats would these things have, and what special things would you have to do to get these items?

PS: sorry if there is a thread like this. I didnt take the time to explore the whole forum list.

First of all, awesome avatar. That youtube video was awesome!

Next, onto the more serious stuff. I want to see more effective straight swords. I mean, there are a couple of good ones, like the Balder Straight Sword and Silver Knight Sword, but as a whole thats really all there is. Also, I want to see more variety on the Katanas, most of them are pretty similar.

I still want my gloves that dont do any damage but has a grab attack(like the darkhand grab) if you land the grab on an invader it gives them a hug & sends them home.

I would also like to see more strait swords.... the only one that was even half descent to me the the silver knight sword and that wasn't even that strong. I defidently want to see weapons with stronger upgrades. I also agree with you about the katanas... they all look pretty much the same but have different lengths and hit damage.

That would be funny but i would imagine it would be difficult to get close enough to them to grab them.

Something that is 782% more cooler than the Greatsword of Artorias.

I want the armor system re-worked.

I don't like that speed is based entirely upon your max height capacity against how much you are carrying. Instead, heavy armor should seem heavier than light armor, but just get enough endurance or the Dark Wood Ring then there is no real difference between light or heavy armor.

So in the next game I want to see armors to have scaling like weapons. Meaning that they could scale with Dex, Str, End, And Res. So that the speed of light armors would scale more with Dex, and the speed of heavier armors would scale more with str, and medium armors would be a combination of both. Still even with a ton of str scaling of heavy armor you shouldn't ever be faster than someone with medium scaling from a light armor.

This way if you wore heavy armor and were a tank, you would feel like a slow tank. You could become faster and more maneuverable, but never as fast as a lighter armored person with good dexterity.

Make more sense to me. Would also help out poise, because then stronger armors with more poise would actually end up making you slower than those who don't have poise, rather than just getting a ton of End and putting on a havel item and still having 25% equip load.

Quite honestly, I'd like to see some joke weapons, similar to how the Broken Straight Sword is to straight swords just with more weapon types. A fishing pole for polearms, and Oar for great hammers, a walking stick/cane for rapiers, etc. Would give more variety to self-imposed challenge runs as well as adding some options to use for counter-trolling or just for the lulz

I would like to have an ultra Greatsword that swings like a claymore. My favourite moveset in DkS.

I want fist weapons that do grapple attacks, at least for the Riposte or Backstab! I wanna wrassle my opponents into submission!

Oi, oars are a decent melee weapon. There's a bunch of kata that focus exclusively on the oar.

On a more serious side, BRING BACK MERCURY UPGRADE! That and a real war scythe!

Cloud, poison boxing gloves! I wrassle you so hard you get poisoned! It'd be the best weapon set up ever, 99% of players should use it!

Havels Legs (Just the legs, the other stuff can go to hell a long with Mask)
Dragon Slayer Bow

What I'd want to be added:

Some more fist weapons would be cool.

Zoom with Crossbows.

Add more Bows/Crossbows.

What I want to see in the next installment is Ice magic, because Ice magic is the shiz.

Whips. They could've been the shiz if they had better range and damage. More whips, more katanas, better balance for weapons, a minigame that involves burning all ye who use the MLGS, and most importantly, different armor eqp. load! I am getting so incredibly tired of people in full havels ninja flipping. NINJA FLIPPING! WTF! HE'S WEARING A BOULDER! Give heavy armors more defense, but reduce max poise. I just hit you with a 6-foot bone sword, how did you walk through that? Especially if you're wearing a boulder. Also, give all light armors a tiny bit of poise. Might not mean much in pvp, but it would in pve. Oh, and the DWGR and TWoP can die in the kindling of the First Flame.

What might be interesting is a slow moving weapon, that deals incredibly low damage. But, it has the same effect as the tearstone, and scales with the percent of your health missing. So say you see a guy with 1k health swing it, you think, I can take the hit and strike him through that for 900 damage. So you hit him accidentally before he hits you, and his Tearstetone ring activates along with his weapon and nukes the hell out of you.
