Read the descriptions of every item within the wiki.

The dark ember does not tell enough. It is not the same thing, as flame is meant for ancient rite... dark ember shows no hint of it. Just for the spawns of Nito.

I think it was just use of vocabulary in the intro. Perhaps the embers you find are actually remnants of the first flame, but I don't see any secret behind them.

Or maybe, if you put all the embers next to the kiln of the first flame bonfire, have the pendant, drop the eighth color prism stone, join no covenants, and never die during your playthrough, Japanese people will think you are silly.

No, but I read what you said about the description changing, very interesting. So occult energy is just part of the rite of kindling?? I like the idea of using the two embers along with the rite.

The intro says that there were 6 components that came from the flame. one of them was the dark. The Dark Beasts are connected to the first flame well. The addition of the flame/chaos gives it a quality which is similar to a bonfire.

You power the bonfire by giving away humanity; Humanity is a soul in which many say was part of the fourth unique soul, the dark soul.

I always that was just a way of powering the gods. Considering Gwyn feared the power of the Dark Soul, giving up a portion of it to power the bonfires, physical manifestations of the Flame, would probably make Gwyn stronger in theory if this were all real and not a game lol

Could try and match embers to covenants especially if you look at the design of each one. the dark ember for nito, crystal for seath, etc

Finish the covenants without using other embers? Or keep embers till kiln?

Has anyone done that? Finished the game without giving away the embers? Dark souls is difficult deliberately and the embers are such an important item and i wouldnt put it past them to reward those who dont use it.

Well, if it was used for an ancient rite, it would be better to see it as used for the use of connecting to the first flame. Or, perhaps it is used for the distinguishment of separate souls.

I do not know what the rite is truly. however other items come to mind which does connect to Velka, and my research still continues. Although, I have had times where I have been unable to, due to the failure of different beings in Lordran in their path.
