I think he is definitely asking for it, however I'm not gonna, ponies are just too weird a thing for adult men to like, it's not like it's some nod towards their nostalgic childhood or anything like that..

They just genuinely love new MLP and think there's some massive subtle adult undertones in it and depth to the whole thing, when there really aren't.

Also, he could easily open letters with gloves on... he has teeth, could have a letter opener, hell he could just open it regularly, I fail to see the issue tolvo, think you're on a miss with this one silly

He likely had Lou Albano version Mario do it for him. I imagine eating would be difficult too.

By the way, this topic is timely as.....for Lord know what reason.....I've had the music from Super Mario 2 in my head all morning.

Those ponies look cute, I suppose, but what is it about them that has everyone in a tizzy?

Not hating or anything, just wanting to understand.

I don't care if they like it, and there are probably some under tones, there are in everything. It's kind of impossible to avoid.

It just doesn't entertain me, and those undertones don't really appeal to me.

If they have the balls to go really deep and make reference to infant suicide, which is metal as hell, maybe I'll give the show another shot.

If he had a letter opener he would is it as a weapon then! Why would you punch something when you can stab it. As well his thick mustache would cause issues with using his teeth, so I don't see him doing that. I have difficulty eating cereal, let alone ripping open a letter and I'm not as grand as dear old mario.

His mustache is his letter opener. Why do you think he gets a discount for how good it is? he threatens the shopkeeers.

supposedly thoughtful undertones and humourous nods to older audience members (aka parents), but when I watched a couple episodes just to see the fuss, it was about as face value as they come and deep as a puddle.

I hope to god that bronies don't read this, I'll have an essay in here and on my PM from at least 5 of em :|

also, mario is a peaceful soul, so he would never use something lethal like a knife as a weapon, which is why he only punches and stomps on things. I think I win silly

Well the show is more so about learning to be social and accepted to my understanding, as well it's about making friends and discovering things about yourself with others. So it appeals to older more reclusive people who didn't get to experience this much in their childhood.

I think now we're just asking for trouble from them now :|

Still though, I don't even understand the deepness of that compared to other kids shows, since after all every one of them has friendship as a central theme, but didn't have people saying it's the best thing ever. Yugioh did lol and it was one of the worst cartoons I've ever watched silly

Some people really liked that show though, it's just how it is.

To be fair it's sort of like asking why we enjoy Dark Souls. Especially us in the Archives probably look way too deeply into it, and it's the same with them. But whose to say that's a bad thing if we're getting a lot of enjoyment out of it.

Though I don't think I'd ever join their CULT.

It really is a cult kind of vibe isn't it? It's like a unity of guys who hold up certain ideals.... Oh my god it's like a religion

So... what's your favourite religion? (just to change subject)

To each their own, I guess. Maybe I'll watch a bit of it for myself just to see where they're coming from. I never begrudge anyone for liking something that I don't particularly care for, and My Little Pony is no different.

So why do you like it so much?

I love pastafarianism because while it's a joke religion, some of it makes a lot of sense in a sort of ironic funny way. The whole pirate thing is the best part of it though really and the pirate adaptations of classic Bible stories are great.

Meh, in that way I'd say hinduism more so than Islam in that respect of greater understanding, and Islam has quite the few loopholes that can be used for war (just as christianity does)

I have a dislike for most religions purely based on the fact by having more than one religion it creates conflict.

It's all there, black and white, clear as crystal! You don't have a favorite religion! You can't come up with an opinion to keep the discussion going, so you get nothing! You lose! Good day, sir!
