Rome Total War
So, I am just getting back into this great RTS - Rome Total War... I am interested in some online battles with restrictions eg; 10k denarii I also enjoy playing themed battles eg Spartans vs Persians or even I sometimes play as Hannibal of Carthage's Army and obviously as Surena of the Parthians armies... Anyone interested??

Re: Rome Total War
That's a bit hard considering Parthia shouldn't even exist on rtw's map

Re: Rome Total War
I know :L thats why I was like... hmm odd but screw it xD Surena was a military genius in my eyes - at least being able to hold off crassus with a contingent of cavalry

<3 Rome Total War is awesome. All about the Germans and the Greeks, those nations were my favourites by far (you can tell I don't like cavalry )

Whoopsy, I didn't realise the other thread was redundant. Silly me. I need to get another copy of this game, I bloody love it. Especially choosing the Egyptians and annihilating the Selucids off the start of the game.

Haha - dont worry bro - I am normally a Parthian obviously due to the fact that I love playing as Surena's Army - I use this army on open plain maps though :L

Re: Rome Total War
oooh Carthage I enjoyed the ideal of the army once you got far, but early game they're very difficult to play as. I was never good enough to get them further than first 10 or so conquests, their resources didn't stretch far enough to cover for the lack of unit power in my experience.

Re: Rome Total War
Like I said, early game. Your early units are awful. Basic swordsmen, slingers, useless cavalry and tiny elephant units? You get slaughtered by scipii unless you have double numbers early on.
Late game units are great, the hoplites and armoured elephants are great, but getting to them on campaign is no easy feat.

Re: Rome Total War
Nah, it's the Selucids who are the best, they just have the best units ripped from other nations, kinda ridiculous really with their "silver shields"

Re: Rome Total War
yeah, i read it and i was like, oh dear
But yeah, i stay away from them unless I feel like getting raped.. If you're the egyptians, they're guys you wanna deal with early as possible before they access their elite troops, as before just like carthage they're a little weak

Re: Rome Total War
I have this but its been so long since I played it. Plus I only ever played the Romans because they were the only guys with a cavalry unit worth a damn. Get my cavalry, charge into their line, 3 to1 kills, retreat, repeat. I almost finished the campaign doing that. only reason I didnt was that i got bored with it and stopped playing.

You really didn't play it if you thought the romans had good cavalry :|

Re: Rome Total War
Cough Seleucid - Cataphracts/ parthia - Cataphracts. The best horse unit in the game - the Horse Archers were the best on open plains

Re: Rome Total War
I thought myself when I played horse archers were the one cavalry unit worth a damn.. (Obviously im not speaking about chariots or elephants in that category, they're both awesome)
Anyone else wish they could have played as Spain? The bull warriors must have been one of my favourite units on the game, along with the headhurlers and giant axe wielders (cant remember proper name)
