You can edit the file so you can play the campaign as spain

Really? I have to try that. Does it function like the rest of the campaign factions, in that you can build buildings and train units or is it bugged? If it works, one has to wonder why CA left it out of the game.

I don't cheat - I hacked to unlock the rest of the factions after unlocking all of the other factions. And you go to your data section then worlds then imp campaign then open descr_strat and move the non playable to playable

It would be cool to have a total war thread. Anyone have any of the other games in the series? and/or mods?

nope. Though I'd get samurai 2 total war if my Laptop was any good.

also one of my friends had medieval total war which I played for a while, which was pretty cool (especially with the almighty wrath of the catholic church), rome was better though I think

I have Shogun 1, Medieval 1 and 2, Rome and I had Empire before I sold it for being a broken bugfest. They've been getting far too easy at least for me and the ai is pretty much broken since Rome. Thank god for mods for making them playable.

how is the AI broken? Could you explain, they seem pretty reasonable to me..

Someone be a bro and gift me this game on steam, my parents won't let me use their credit card (even though it was my dad who accidentally put my copy in the bloody bin), and my local game closed down.

Hey Amos, do you know how to unlock factions such as Armenia, Spain, Numidia etc? I know it involves messing around in the game files.

If you google it there's multiple threads that detail how to.

I always play as the greeks, just the satisfaction of bring them back to power and destroying the Romans. At the moment my forces are held up in a very long war with Britain. I swear on Very Hard the AI just pumps out 2 armies for every 1 you destroy...

I hate the Greeks. When you start out, you're guarranteed to get attacked by the Brutii and Scipii, Macedonians and even frickin Selucids.

I love the greeks, they're one of the few factions I ever completed a long campaign with, the other being Britain. I love head hurlers <3 If I played again, I'd totally see if I could make carthage good, they're hard to start with as their early forces are so weak.

I hate the Britians with a passion. They killed off my best general with routing swordsmen(don't even ask how I'm still in disbelief.)

Carthage would be fun to play as, You start out with two very strong enemies and possibly a third if the AI uses the greeks correctly.
