I like to think of it as if Fallout was more of a shooter than an RPG, the shooting and overall feel of the gameplay is much better than Fallout 3 and NV in my opinion.

Hm. There is no base building, but I can do a quick IG recap if you wish.

You've got three heroes, the Lord General (defensive hero, can bring turrets to the field, comes with a command squad, and it's got tools for every occasion through wargear), the Lord Commissar (a tanky hero, can summarily execute to boost your troops, got access to powerfists; global powers are not that good), and the Inquisitor (offensive melee-psyker, got the second best set of global powers in the IG).

You've got your run of the mill Guardsmen, who are the biggest (number-wise) squad in the game; they can get a sarge and a commisar, plus flamers or plasma guns. Each of the added leaders bring two more guardsmen each, and allow you to replenish an extra guardsmen each time you reinforce (so a maxed squad gets 3 guardsmen for the price of one).
Add a Chimera, which lets you reinforce on the field, and a 3 GI + Chimera combo steamrolls over basic T1 and non-mech T2 armies. They can also set up barricades and tarantula laser turrets, who add some interesting firepower.

You've got Catachans, who are an specialist anti-power armor melee unit with CRAZY utility abilities; but they are expensive and fragile.
You've got set up teams, be it a heavy bolter, lascannon or autocannon.
Ogryns, who are your uber melee unit, and Stormtroopers, who can go anti-vehicle with meltas or anti-infantry with hotshot lasguns. They can also infiltrate.

Sentinels are the earlist vehicle tier-wise in the game, can uncap and kite, and got a stomp attack that make melee units cry.

Vehicle wise, you've got Chimeras (APC + reinforce on the field), Manticores (mobile artillery unit), Leman Russ (main battle tanks), and Baneblade (super unit).

Edit: Company of Heroes is DoW, with a lot more random factors, no melee units or attacks, and slower.

I believe it was because of all the textures...supposedly they didnt reuse them in new areas or some such...though alot of it looked pretty similar to me. I found the game pretty dissapointing.

I've been playing Skyrim sometimes.
BF3 when i wanna shoot people. That game always ends up pissing me off though.
I been trying trying to find a good scary game(or zombie)...cant find any to hold my attention though. Any suggestions? I've already beat Dead Space 1-2. Amnesia as well..

Its the only game that when I shot the assault rifle I felt as though it really was a semi digitally real gun. AK's for life!

I found the graphics to be a little too bright and abrasive and the combat systems just didn't do a thing for me. A qualm I have with a lot of contemporary games, which is the main qualm I had with this one, was that it tried to do way too much and, IMO, the result was that it didn't do any of them very well. After playing something like killzone 2, as I haven't played the 3rd one yet, I just feel like third person shooters can be so much more than what it was in that respect. The same can be said in relation to twisted metal, and then any first person rpg. I just felt like if it had picked one of them and ran with it that the experience would have been better. As it was I think I fell asleep playing it more than any other game I've played in awhile. Actually Assassin's Creed Revelations may be a tie in that particular event. It was actually kind of funny, because I bought it on my birthday due to the glowing recommendation given by the kid who works in my local game store. So when I brought it back to trade it in I told him how I ended up feeling about it and his response was: "Yeah but dude what's great about it is the gigantic bosses. How many games nowadays do you play where you fight all these enormous difficult monster bosses?" and I told him to go home and play Dark Souls.

I used to play multiplayer shooters but I've decided to abstain from them for awhile, I find their addictive nature unhealthy.

Lately I've been playing a lot of this game called homework. It kinda sucks.

Hate those extended evening classes. I've had to take a couple because they were classes I really wanted. But man, those classes could be on PS3 and boobies and I'd still be falling asleep after the first hour. You can only listen to someone lecture for so long before you can't help but zone out. Math makes it extra brutal, at least for me. I don't have much of a mind for math and science. I draw pretty pichers and write stories instead.

@Serious: I'm still just an undergrad. I took a few years off between college and high school to travel, then got married which ended up being a huge mistake and another year or so of postponing, among a lot of other things. Long and short is I didn't really start going until I was 26ish.

Well, having that much time to travel and experience the world isn't such a bad thing, you may not get another chance like you did until you're going into retirement, so I think it'll stand you in good stead, even if not all of the time you spent away from study was that great.

Oh I wouldn't trade it for anything. Even the bad stuff made me the man I am, which all said and done I'm not too unhappy about. Just means I have to be a college student that's a little older, but that's alright. I keep getting older and they stay the same age. yuck yuck. I'll stop thread highjacking now.

I WOULD be playing Minecraft on the Xbox360 if my friend had actually paid me back like he was supposed to, unfortunately he didn't so I can't buy it.

A bit of BF3, a bit of Skyrim. Popped in Empire Earth III and was reminded of how lame it was, so I went back to AoE 2 (much better than 3, imo).

Revisited Skyrim this p.m. Am carrying on with it for a bit for a change.

I haven't been playing games much lately, but I usually leave Skyrim on and every now and then jump on it. Switching between my two favourite races, Argonian and Orc.
