Why was the jblackmel thread locked?

I think warrants further discussion.

Rynn, that video does show him attacking many of his opponents mid-bow, but I digress.

On the video itself, I think he makes some good points and some not so good points. However, if think he makes a very bad faux pas in drudging up politics at the tail end of his video; especially, when his video is fraught with highly contestable, questionable points of debate. Calling out "liberals" for instituting an arbitrary honor system is a low blow. Play your game how you want to, but don't impugn an entire political ideology when doing so.

I think the thread was locked due to the insults that were thrown early on when it was first posted. People calling Martyr a D-bag etc..

Wait a sec buddy, if that thread was locked because of the subject, don't you think this one its going to get locked too? Is basicly the same thread extended

Anyway I give up about posting my point of view. Is ironically pointless now.

Well, that's the thing it shouldn't have been locked in the first place. Some heated discussion is nice, it's cathartic even.

This can only end well...

I really feel bad that I started that thread. I really didn't mean for it to start an ethical deliberation. I just wanted to share the video and the fact that, the guy in the video is a really skilled player who has a pretty interesting take on the unwritten honor system. Sorry if it caused anyone to make offensive comments!

Next time it would be a better idea to just message a Mod asking them, specifically any that posted in the thread, especially the one who did indeed lock it. This may seem like you are just trying to cause unrest against their decision rather than finding out. I assume you were more so curious, but that's how it could appear.

I just hate that sort of all-powerful, undemocratic form of censorship. We keep this forum running shouldn't we have a say as to whether a certain thread should or shouldn't be locked?

Because we have no rights.

I believe he did not locked JUST because it was in the wrong section, actually that was the least important.

I also wanted to post something huge, but then the thread got locked before and I thought that if everyone stopped posting, it would be better for our community.

Besides, we have a lot of "honour" threads already that we can post about it.

Rule Number 1. No flaming. Debates and disagreements are fine and even encouraged, but incendiary comments and insulting posts are not. This also extends to abusive and offensive language, and circumventing the language filter.

There was indeed incendiary comments and insults in that thread. People were warned earlier but it continued. While it calmed down a bit it was completely possible it would start up again. I don't speak for the mods of course, but I find it completely within reason to try and keep things Civil. They also contribute a lot to the forums and do their best to keep this as friendly of an environment as possible, people really should give them more credit sometimes. Though I imagine this post will be counted as sucking up, just try and be nice and don't jump to conclusions so quickly. Actually try and get their side rather than attempting to make a public event of something that could be understood in a few PM's.

This irked me too, I had written a very lengthy, and though out response and then I send and I find the thread is locked. I had more to say, and I'm sure others did too, don't silence their voices.

Nothing we can enforce, but you'll certainly know when a player is being nice and when they aren't.

If they had to get your permission to cut off what you're going to say, they'll never be able to stop anything.

I suppose that the Mods saw it as a ticking time bomb just waiting to explode. Nothing wrong with that, but I personally would like to see it unlocked (If that's even possible, of course).

I think you're really undermining the work the Mod team do and the environment the forum needs.

Look, it was potentially a very toxic and flaming thread that got off to a bad start and paid the price. However making threads like this to complain is not something that is really necessary or wise to do.

What was said that was so bad? So some guys called the Youtuber in question a douche and the like, but so what? He's not even a member of these forums and in that capacity he was pretty being presented as a public figure and as such Ok to be called out on.

I think it should stay locked. The situation may have been diffused but all it would take was a misread comment to cause a big uproar again.
