So, this may be a nooby question, but I would just like some clarification as to how the damage of weapons really works. If a weapon has, say, 400 total damage. 200 being physical, and 200 being magic. I assume that means each of those numbers gets reduced by defenses individually. Whereas, a weapon with 300 damage, all of it being physical, would only have to suffer the reductions of an enemy's physical damage resistance. If this is true, then where does the line exist where a weapon with not so great damage (but all of it being one type) is actually better than a weapon with higher base damage, but the types are split into two groups?

Re: Damage Types Question
I'm not sure where the line is, but generally split damage weapons do well in PvE while straight physical damage weapons do better in PvP. Mob's defenses are calculated different then player's

Re: Damage Types Question
700 pure physical AR is better than 400 Physical + 300 elemental AR.
