Re: Lordran's Deliverance
Hmm just know that our covs are destined to be the greatest of foes Dan. We represent the opposite ends of morality. Ha I guess I have always been a DM at heart; I have a strong sense of justice.

Hehe, A strong sense of justice clashes with a sense of fair play on this occasion.
Invading downwards? Psh, real men use the RSS

Actually the orb searches for people at similar or higher level first, and only invades down after that (least that's what I've read somewhere)

Re: Lordran's Deliverance
I belive that to be correct, however as far as I know with the RSS It selects near and above which is by far giving your opponent a fairer fight.
when I did darkmoon in order to obtain my talisman I ran into A hacker, A farmer 3 times (the same one). and most of the rest were pretty helpless players. one of whom tried to run away up the 2 silver knights with greatbows path... If someone summons you through an RSS they know what they are getting themselves into.

Re: Lordran's Deliverance
Yeah, with Blue orb I usually only invade in PvP hotspots and duelling areas like Kiln or Darkroot garden so I wasn't invading noobs.
even Anor londo invasions I got fair fights, I even met one of the guys off the forum when I was invading in anor londo
Also yeah, the soul returns you get for DM invasions are really bad. that's why to farm I red orb/soap to get souls to SL120 or whatever then go DM after

I don't invade before anor londo in maxed stuff, My gear and sl always reflect the area I'm invading.

Re: Lordran's Deliverance
^ I was invading in anor londo and then later the forest because I was feeling guilty. I didnt have maxed gear, I think my weapon was +14 and my armour was like +6 or 7...

I don't mind invading with higher up gear, especially since my friends will almost always have helpers with maxed gear and hide behind them

Re: Lordran's Deliverance
I'm involved, its not a fair fight anyways, but I prefer to give them a chance. I always have a maxed backup weapon as well, I'm nice, not stupid.

Well I'm invading in Anor Londo so I will definitely be using maxed gear.

Re: Lordran's Deliverance
I disagree, I always thought the point of a fair fight was that it was decided on the two combatants relative skill levels. No matter how good you are its still a fair fight unless you have some kind of other advantage.Forum Pirate wrote:I'm involved, its not a fair fight anyways,

Re: Lordran's Deliverance
The definition of fair is free from bias, dishonesty, or injustice.
Skill bias is still bias, fair is used to refer to the second and third words most often, but they is only part of its meaning.

Re: Lordran's Deliverance
There is always a difference in skill level forum, fairness in fights means "equal conditions" rather than a totally "equal fight"

Re: Lordran's Deliverance
As you're using it, yes. Thats not actually what the word means however.
free from bias, dishonesty, or injustice.
Bias comes in so many forms, that nothing is ever fair. Even if it would be, chance gets in the way.
I have no problem with people who try to fight fairly based on your erronious definition of fair. I however, recognise no contest as fair, due to the number of variables involved.

Re: Lordran's Deliverance
Pirate, if you're going to use the word "definition" please get the actual definition.
Adjective:
In accordance with the rules or standards; legitimate.
Adverb:
Without cheating or trying to achieve unjust advantage: "he played fair".
Noun:
A gathering of stalls and amusements for public entertainment.
Verb:
Streamline (a vehicle, boat, or aircraft) by adding fairings.

Re: Lordran's Deliverance
It's actually 'erroneous', and what I'm giving isn't a definition of the word 'fair' but the words 'fair fight'. Something is greater than the sum of its parts, more than just the definitions of two words put together.
It's completely different to just simple fairness, and it's definition is what I gave, not a fight where all variables are controlled to be equal, since that's obviously impossible

Not on my back to do it sunlight... :|
I'm just gonna stop debating it though, I've said what I thought and frankly I agree this isn't the place to talk about fairness so that's it.
