Need term explanation help.

i am just now getting into the metagame so i would like help understanding the acronyms and jargon. ex. i don't know which backstab has been dubbed the pivot backstab and i spent 5 minutes figuring out what wog was. i apologise for my ignorance

WoG = Wrath of gods. Miracle similar to force but it does damage. Considered cheap if spammed in PVP.

Whats metagame?

BKGA= Black Knight Great Axe, took me forever to figure this one out...

WTF = wednesday, thursday, friday.

lol, metagame is talking about the games mechanics and play styles, battle theories outside of the actual game or, verbal practice rather than actual practice.

Pivot backstab is the landing of a backstab without lock on engaged. You can tell because the player will be running in a straight line and then pivot to your back once past you. This is differentiated from the standard backstab where the opponent has lock on engaged and visibily strafes to your backside, using the games tethering to land a backstab. As of now, the pivot is considered cheap in the meta but we will see what happens as things evolve. Let's hope insta-casting isn't discovered in Dark Souls because then civil war may erupt.

I get (after some argument) how chain BSs are cheap. But pivots? Its hard to perform, and easy to avoid. All you need to do is keep switching directions you strafe and I'll have a hard time getting behind you. Besides, it's one of the very few ways to get to a tank poking his spear from behind a havel's sheild.

But man the lag makes the guy appear right behind you while in your screen hes still in front of you. Lock on and you will get pivot backstabbed. This ruins crossbow, lunges attempts and other things

I get the impression that for those attacks you stand still for quite a bit, so a normal circle with some lag would give the same result. Which is why I don't use big weapons or crossbows.
