    Faith requirement Empty Faith requirement

Post by WhatDoesThePendantDo? Wed Jun 13, 2012 9:24 pm

So I hear that the Crown of the Dark Sun (Gwyndolin's helm) has a hidden Faith requirement. Meaning that you can wear the headpiece, but without the points into Faith you won't get the full benefits of the item.

I don't so much care (I don't have a toon who wears this particular piece of gear) but it's just that I'm more curious than anything; I'd never heard of any armor piece having any sort of a statistical requirement.

I don't think you need faith to wear it or to have its effect, although the description says it demands the user to have high faith.

The sanctus also has a faith requirement but it doesn't hinder the health regeneration effect. The occult shield description says it defends well against divine weapons, but its damage reduction for magic is only 40%, maybe this is another stat-based effect since it too has a faith requirement.

Those are shields though. Gwyndolin's crown is armor.

That's due to it's lightning resistance, which is the best in the game. Lightning is considered "divine" by the lore, and I've heard it actually counts as divine for killing skeletons.

I really have no idea, as I've never worn it. This probably ought to be tested, but I don't have the means to do it.

Seek Guidance requires Faith and Wisdom.

I suppose the Crown of the Dark Sun's description could mean Faith as the idea, not exactly the stat. I'm sure Seek Guidance's description is hinting at the proper way to use SG to find hidden signs and advice. And I never thought about lightning damage like that- it makes sense. But lightning doesn't get a damage boost on skeletons, does it? And I'm almost certain lightning weapons don't perma-kill skeletons before you kill their necromancer, right?

It does not. or at least a lightning upgraded weapon does not. (tried last night then could not remember the relevant thread)
sunlight blade may but I have not tested, would be interesting.

By lightning, I meant the Sun Bro miracles. I have had someone tell me it will finish off a sksleton for real, although I haven't tested it.

I did some force, emit force and wrath of the gods tests a while ago, but none were good for killing skeletons. I think I also tested the gravelord sword dances, can't remember. The Grant's AoE attack did kill them though. Didn't think about testing the sunbro miracles, nor did I have dark moon blade.
