Leaving Way of White means Reah dies?

Hi guys, I'm new to the forums. Currently on my first playthrough, 'bout 60 hours in.

Anyway, I'm a Knight and so I was part of the Way of the White covenant. However, I decided, 'F*** the Gods!', killed Gwynevere and Gwyndolin and then left the Way of the White covenant. (Left, not betrayed.)

I had already come across Reah in the Tombs, where I had to kill her escorts. I knew Petrus could kill her later on, so I checked to see if she was safely in the church. She was. I saw her there many times, even after having gone to many different areas.

Now then, after killing Gwynevere and Gwyndolin and leaving the Way of the White covenant, I walked by the church and found she was dead. Assuming it was Petrus, I killed him and indeed found her talisman on his body.


So my question is, why didn't Petrus kill her earlier? Was it because I killed the Gods, or because I left the Way of the White? And why? Anyone have any ideas?

petrus will kill her no matter what, it wasnt your actions he just will

I read somewhere that if you visit her in the Church after having saved her, and you do so BEFORE travelling to two more areas, she will stay there and Petrus won´t kill her.

What confuses me is that she has been there for quite long and NOW, all of a sudden, Petrus decides to kill her. Something must´ve triggered it, no?

Right, that´s what I meant. But, I talked to her, so did she get killed?

I agree, not a big fan of Petrus either. (Kinda wanted to kill him from the get go, but I like to stay in character, meaning I don't kill people based on that I don't like their faces...)

Still, I'm pretty sure Reah can stay alive even without killing Petrus and I met that requirement (=talking to her before killing two more bosses), so apparently leaving Way of the White gives Petrus reason, or opportunity, for killing her?

By the way, shouldn't killing Gwynevere or Gwyndolin mean you betrayed the Way of the White? Seeing as how they worship Gwyn and all (right?) and I kinda killed his son? Just wondering. I was still in the Way of the White after killing Gwyndolin and Gwynevere.

Sometimes the trigger mechanism is a bit buggy, there have actually been instances where Reah has come back from the dead after being killed once, I think you may have just encountered a glitch, though of course if it starts happening to more people then maybe there is a different trigger.

I've also had some problems with making Petrus kill her, maybe talking to Lautrec will somehow mess it up?

And is there any way at all to betray way of white (other than joining a different covenant)? I've killed all wow related npcs, but were still a member after.

This is what I like about Dark Souls though; trying to unearth things. Like when you kill the butcher, get the sack he wears over his head and read in the item description that he's a man-eater, meaning all that meat you saw on his table is probably human meat.

That's when she's in the tomb i think, but im not sure. you'r probably right, nito is the last lord i kill because i have the most trouble with him. so that's probably correct.

The butchers are actually "women".
