Kick Stagger.

Is whether or not the baddies stagger from a kick based on poise or endurance? Both? Neither?

I like to do the ol' kick+GC thing, but whether or not they stagger is sort of hit or miss.

I'm so bad at kicks, it's not even funny.

I was too for a while. Hardest part is knowing when you can get away with doing it.

I might be wrong, but I'm pretty sure that kicks simply reduce the enemies stamina and when they reach zero they are forced to stagger.

I've honestly never tried kicking an enemy who wasn't blocking with a shield, so in a scenario where they aren't blocking then I don't know what would happen. I imagine it would do the same thing though and just keep reducing stamina but would not stagger them when it reaches zero.

The stagger animations are different though. If they're blocking it's the typical guard break, but without the block it's more like a stagger. Hmm.

I'm fairly certain if they have their shield raised it drains their stamina, and if they arent blocking then they stagger(no matter the poise). Thats how it has seemed to me.

I've wondered about it myself a few times. I think moments where lag made it seem as if my opponents shield was down when it wasn't confused me on the matter. I have a habit of running up and kicking people who buff in the burg or kiln, and they all wear full havels/giants ext. Kick is awesome, but it doesn't even touch push in demon's souls.

yep, what fruit said, it drains a lot of poise when you block and staggers your *** when you get kicked no matter the poise or stamina, im sure because ive fought glute a lot and he does the roll kick thing.

Kicking on players always staggers if the shield isn't up.
Kicking on enemies like the silver knights assume they were blocking always.

Been doing a lot of kicking lately, and as was previously stated, it will stagger anyone who isn't actively blocking. Good deal. Thanks, guys.

I've seen kicks knock Havel the NPC's shield away.

If you're fighting someone who always locks on, kick as they roll. If you're using the death Ricard's combo, that stagger is as good as a parry.

Except you can't kick with a rapier.

Can kick with a spear though.
Spear + Kick + Leo's still hurts like a *****.

I have discovered that you can kick a Berenike Knight a few times while he blocks, and he comically flails his shield backwards when his guard is broken.

Or kick with the BSS + leo.

As I wrote not too long ago, you can do this same thing to Havel and his beastly shield.

I've been doing it with the BSS R2 Leo Ring. They can still dodge away, but sometimes you catch 'em.

Kick/knee/slow kick all ignore poise.
Kick does bonus shield damage.
Kick cannot be parried.

I tested it with different amounts of poise. It doesn't matter if I had 0 poise or 161 poise, I would be staggered with my shield down.
