Using his glass cannon build he managed to hit the crow in firelink for 2k damage, completely draining its life bar. It simply flew away. Its inability to be killed can be linked to both Shakr's recent time theory and Wyrm and Fed's idea that the crow is Velka.

Firstly a big thanks to Amos for testing this.

Alvina can't be killed either though. What about the transport gargoyle? Can it be killed?

Aye, crow just flew off, mind you I would do the exact same thing if I had just been hit by a CSS.

The difference is Alvina disappears upon attack through magic, does she even have a lifebar?skarekrow13 wrote:Alvina can't be killed either though. What about the transport gargoyle? Can it be killed?
Has anyone ever attempted attacking the gargoyle?

Re: That darn crow
Alvina has a lifebar. I've taken it all away before. No change in animation etc. I have not attacked the gargoyle but probably will now. Although I'm sure someone has done it.

Well we always though there was more to Alvina.

Re: That darn crow
Well she's ancient and was a good friend of Artorias and Sif so there's definitely some things there. Also the covenant is not necessarily hers but likely is and almost certainly tied to her species. And think of the actual amount of power going into a covenant like that. You can be anywhere in Lordran (pretty much) and when SHE wants you there, she will find the ring you're wearing and manipulate time and space to get you there.

Re: That darn crow
Sorry for the double post but imagine this scenario...
Assuming:
A. The crow and Alvina cannot be killed, and
B. Cats and birds don't always get along....
Imagine if Alvina eats the crow (I know there's a size difference). There would then be an immortal struggle between pecking and digestive fluids in which no victor would ever emerge.

It can't be killed because it would lock you off from an area of the game, similar to how you can't kill the Demon that brings you to Anor Londo, because you could get stuck without a chance of beating the game.

Re: That darn crow
@Tolvo. You can’t kill it but if you attack it from the anot londo side it disappears, forcing you to get the lordvessel in order to continue or go back to sens/the rest.

But if you go back to Sen's, it isn't dead. So you don't get stuck.

Re: That darn crow
The transport demon can actually be killed with dung pies. You can still 'talk' to its invisible corpse on the platform (warp back to sen's) if its corpse falls towards you as it dies. It will respawn after you rest or warp.Tolvo wrote:It can't be killed because it would lock you off from an area of the game, similar to how you can't kill the Demon that brings you to Anor Londo, because you could get stuck without a chance of beating the game.

Really? Now that is some insane and interesting news to me, have you tried dung pies on the crow, or alvina?

Re: That darn crow
Wyrm and Fed didn't come up with that originally. I forget the member's name, but some new guy came in, with a white fox as his avatar, or her, and he said that he believed that the crow was Velka. Wyrm said "that's an interesting idea."
This was a while ago. A few months, I believe. I just wanted to give props to the original guy/gal who came up with the idea. Idk where Fed got it, since he seemed to pop out of nowhere with a bunch of posts already and challenge me to a duel....
EDIT: Nvm. I was corrected. Im not here.

Re: That darn crow
Not tried alvina, but I have tried on the crow. I don't remember the outcome, other than I failed to kill it, so it's either immune or it flew off as usual.Tolvo wrote:Really? Now that is some insane and interesting news to me, have you tried dung pies on the crow, or alvina?

Re: That darn crow
@Tolvo the undead asylum is completely optional, there is no reason to revisit it. Therefore the crow should be able to die aas killing it does not prevent you progressing the story.

Re: That darn crow
It is a pretty big thing to go to the undead asylum. Its needed in order to get into the painted world.DoughGuy wrote:@Tolvo the undead asylum is completely optional, there is no reason to revisit it. Re: That darn crow
Which contains a crazy amount of lore. Im not saying the crow cant be killed because its important to get there. Im saying the crow must be an important being in order to unlock such huge optional areas.

Re: That darn crow
But Im saying that story wise theres no reason for it to live, as the areas are optional. I agree with the crow being important. But its also optional. You can completely ignore it and be no worse off.

Re: That darn crow
Imagine you can't warp and you rested at the Asylum. You kill the crow, then die. Stuck at the Asylum? Though note, the crow is key to entering the Painted World, which is influenced by Velka.

Re: That darn crow
I think if you didnt go to the asylum at all, you wouldnt be worse off. But the fact that the key to getting one if the biggest lore areas in the game is the crow PLUS. The fact that you cant kill the crow makes it a big lore entity.

Re: That darn crow
So I think by arguing 2 completely different things we have come to an agreement.
Tolvo got it a day or two ago, and he got it for his help to theforum, his twitter and his global announcement. Basically being a town crier.
