New to Darksouls

Hiii

im new to dark souls i used to play Demons souls

and i liked it ,, the first time i played Darksouls i chose the mage.. but i quit playing because i had exams ...

what class do you guys recommend ? i will start all over

Depends if you wanna try everything in one play through or if you want to have a more specialized build you can pvp with.

depends on your play style, in demons i was a spell sword but i find faith to be more effective in dark. i like the charges system but i miss mana regen.......... oh well uh knight isn't bad or a cleric or a pyromancer probably

Classes are just a set of starting weapons and armour. I'd recommend either the Pyromancer because of SL1; the Warrior or the Knight due to simplicity.

I started as a Knight with the Master Key and really enjoyed it. I had to start over after a couple hours once I figured out the strategy that this games MAKES you develop and it's been a blast ever since.

I ended up sticking a bunch into dexterity since it was easier to survive early on by shooting arrows at the undead burg guys. I used wooden arrows for the LONGEST time it seems.

I'm jealous of the Faith guy!!!!! I think that would've been really fun to try. Oh well.

Thief starts with the Master Key, just so you know.

Don't start with the master key. It can totalky ruin the flow and experience of the game. Use it later on your follow up play throughs. Dark Souls is a finely crafted experience and the master key just screws it all up, I'm disappointed in FROM for making it availabile to noobs

Op please for your own sake avoid the key at all costs on your first play through. The first time through the game is an experience like no other and is ruined by use of that key.

Otherwise pick whatever class you want, doesn't matter all that much really.

Well, if for whatever reason you don't want the key, Black Firebombs will allow you to kill the Asylum Demon easily before you grab all your starting gear.

The enchanting Pendant is, of course, also open to you as well.

Wow! Didn't know that was a bad choice. I just got it cuz I didn't wanna find any treasure chests after working hard to get there and then not be able to open them. I had NO idea it opens things I'm supposed to earn.

Remember, I'm an old gamer from the late 70's using pencil, player character sheets and dice. And I remember how disappointing it is to accomplish something only to have a wrench thrown in. I didn't find this site until I was half way through the game.

Now I wish I didn't grab the master key. Damn it.

In my opinion it only screws up the experience if you go to blightown first...

It only gives you access to like one or two chests really, that you can get too anyway. It's real use is opening doors way earlier then you should be able too.

With me I wanted to figure out every nook and cranny (mmmm English muffins) on my own. I still would have but there's a chance with the key that I would have done something then explored and found the key to that section after it was done. I love the feeling of, "a new key eh....HOLY ****! Where does it go, where does it go, where does it go?" I might have figured out that the answer was "already been there" which is disappointing.

A&&D I take it? I'm a first generation man myself. There's a thread in off topic dedicated to that type of game. Can share war stories.

The key isn't inherently evil, OP. It just creates handy shortcuts to some areas, allowing you to skip some frustrating bosses early on.

Even then, Upper Blighttown is an experience one should live only once.
Remember though, you can buy the Master Key later on!

totally agree with that. Picked it on my first playthrough, wish I hadnt!

First run, i reckon just do what you feel, find a comfortable weapon you like swingin' and find a cool look for your character. Focus on specifics in your later builds. Being too anal about your build somehow deadens the magic of the first run, if its too easy because your overpowered the sense of accomplishment isnt the same. Be strong sir!!

Awe c'mon man. You can't say that it's not fun to invade someone, open to door to havel's dungeon, then wait at the right side, then block their exit to watch them die by havel. xD

if you realy get into the game class rarely matters, unless that is you want to be a pure magic, faith, pyro build, id say go for anything, masters key makes the experience better if you don't abuse it hehehe but it seriously is nothing on using the wiki so i wouldn't sweat it.

word of advice, never use drake that is a bigger game killer than keys

Whaaaat?

The Drake Sword is a crutch, nothing else. Once he hits Sen's, he will realize he's gotta adapt or die. That weapon only trivializes the early game and helps the player to realize no stat scaling is a bad thing.

but it takes the challenge and the experience needed to progress through sens, sens may be the hardest area in the game if you dont play it enough and the grake sword becomes vishously underpowered then, so all your left with is a sword that has made you careless, no other weapons because you had the drake, and stat points allocated where you may not need them e.g my main faith build has 12 str because that's its default 16 str would throw it off making the build useless.
