This happens occasionally with invaders or summons where they'll show up invisible or show up later then they really do. It's just some of the weirdness possible with P2P multiplayer

Could be that the guy you summon has hcsm on him in his world and when he gets in your world it goes off but you dont see it.

^im not sure it does stay cuz i didnt test it out but i heard multiple times that someone sayd it was hcsm. But than again if you go trough a fog gate it also goes away. thats why i sayd it ''could''

It sounds like what federally said. I hate this, even the invasion notice doesnt pop up until they actually appear. Ive had people just spawn right behind me, into a backstab!

Most sorcerers cast HCSM as soon as they spawn, due to all the lag and blah de blah its entirely possible for someone to have HCSM and you not be able to see it because it was cast while your system and his sync'd up.
Again more weirdness due to P2P networking
