There are some videos on YouTube where the characters can run fairly quickly and still use greatsword. My character is slowed down by the greatswords.

putting points in your endurance makes your character move faster and be able to wear heavy armor/weapons. There are also some items that increase your equip load: Havel's Ring, Ring of Favor and Mask of the Father.
