The almighty Lucerne Empty The almighty Lucerne

Post by Opedak Sun Aug 05, 2012 1:44 am

Am I really the only one who loves this weapon and don't think its the worst thing ever?
I mean, It does pure thrust damage, so the leo ring is really good with it, plus it has the move set of the other halberds excluding the R1, but plenty of weapons have bad R1s (And I think that the R1 is wonderful for PvE)
I mean, It can hit all around you while doing tons of counter damage,

Also, something odd about this thing, with out counter damage or the Leo ring the difference between two handing and one handing is like, eight damage, but with it its closer to one hundred. No idea why that is, but it makes two handing useful outside changing the moveset

I have had this weapon forever and never used it. Maybe I will try it out sometime. If it works like other halberds, than I should love it.

I actually like it a lot, I hate the regular r1 cause its slower tHan the rest of the halberds but with my warrior build and leo ring I can get up to 1k damage from a counter running attack.

See its a good weapon! I don't know why so many people find it useless.
I love it, even if I'm not the best with it, but thats just because I need to get better with the moveset

I don't use it much but it can be an awesome weapon if yin get enough practice with it. I love the design but that r1 is a big letdown, I wish it was he same as the reg halberds since it's a thrust weapon.

The inlay time I can see it being good is parry spammer since it has a weird timing and might be hard to parry the first couple of times, other than that that's pretty much it. The backstep r1 is lethal though, that thing has reach. I personally like it a lot but it's freaking hard to use.

My problem with it is kind of my problem with the greataxe. Its was nerfed beyond recognition because it was so awesome last time around. From overcompensated, they did the same with hp regen too.

They're still use-able, but other things are the same but stronger and with more reach.

If you are good at predicting a rolling enemy, it is very great due to its long reaching swing. Start your swing locked, then move it to where they will land at the end of their roll. It's absolutely excellent for this, and as you mentioned doing this trick can land easy counters.

In my opinion ANY weapon is good (except the broken half weapons rofl) as long as it's in the right hands.

Hmm, well if at low health, with the Leo and RTSR active, BS cancel is technically a counter hit I believe. So if facing a BS fisher, if you start your R1, then turn to hit behind you to BS cancel, you could possibly one shot people while BS cancelling, which would be the ultimate middle finger to fishers. The timing would be a bit difficult with lag is all.

From demons to dark man. In demons those were 2 of the best weapons, hands down, in dark they're mediocre. Everything is dangerous in good hands, but the weapons themselves kinda suck (in dark) compared to weapons like the claymore.

It's good to try out different weapons I know but there are so many in this game that it's easy to over look one. I've only just discovered the move set of Velka's Rapier, it's astonishing on R2. I've had it for ages and never given it a second thought. I suppose most people have favourite weapons and like me don't bother to try out new ones. The ones I use most are the Uchigatana and the Composite Bow but I'm going to have some fun for a while and try out some more that are lying at the bottom of my BB.

The Lucerne is my favorite weapon in the game.
Technical talk aside, when I violently hammer a pick on the long end of a pole onto a hollows skull, I feel like I'm really punishing the hell out of them . And when I double hand double swing to finish off a great beast, it's the perfect finale.

It's also good for hitting things higher than you, like the centipede demons arm.

The lucerne's 2H R2 is incredible for dealing with BS fishers as well as consecutive dead angles. It can be compared to spinning around with the GS in your hands haha. While it does leave you vulnerable if you miss, it is still a great fall back or last resort. I have won quite a few battles by closing in on opponent and dominating them as they expect an easy running R1 parry.
