Does anyone remember playing this mmorpg years back in the 90s?

I honestly can't play Dark souls without feeling its influence;

- Normal players who are unrelated to you glow white, allys glow orange and murderers glow red.

- The selection of weapons is extremely similar. A selection of swords, spears, maces and other dark age type weapons, some eastern weapons and some special weapons.

The entire aesthetic look and feel of the game is also extremely similar, past these two main points it gets quite hard to describe the other similarities but they are there!

If anyone else has any idea what i'm talking about please let me know!

I played the hell out of it and remains one of my favorite online games of all time. I've never pondered their similarities in the way you've mentioned, however I have thought about the rawness of pvp between the two and they are very similar in that regard. PvP in UO was relentless and highly unfair at times yet it seemed so "right" for a medieval rpg. It eventually got care-bear'd, but up until that point I don't think any other online game had that sort of ruthless, cut-throat, kill or be killed atmosphere and it's a shame because it was highly addicting.

Exactly, Lordran is like Felucca, you can get ganked at any point by a red.

It just lines up too easily! lol

it reminds me of zelda in some situations

I've always thought of Dark Souls more like Mario Party...
