What you should do is have a cheat sheet. Yeah, dark souls dodging is king but in this game, with a 50/50 chance of dodging, seems like armour is better, and probably blocking.
Check out what's the chance of parrying, dodging, etc. Also realize that you can do things you can't do in Dark Souls, such as use rope, go out windows, climb areas you should be able to climb...
Did anyone get to the merchant yet, or go claim the light crossbow or anything like that?
Imagine that you're giving commands to someone totally new to the game instead of your own skills.

The crossbow soldier actually isn't very strong (Look how much damage he took from you using force?)... i was attempting to teach you that dodging wasn't going to continue working here, unless the creature sucks at aiming

Hey Rynn, looked through the rules, didn't see anything on initiative. Are actions simultaneous? Roll off? Depends on what weapon you're using?

Initiative works this way. Before you react, the enemy dictates with varying levels of clarity what their next action will be. Then on your turn, you chose how you're going to react to this. Then both actions occur at the same time, based on how the dice, and then my own imagination, dictates the scene would most likely go.
And i have been leaning to the side of the player a good 75% of the time, because i like seeing people win.

Ok. Then I will try to be as prepared as possible for varying encounters (having the right items equipped for what I want to do).
Also, can you add some detail into how these enemies are moving? I'm just visualizign the movesets of the actual dark souls game; ridiculous windups for these hollows, slow reaction times, etc.

I sprout a thin, pointed mustache out of sheer willpower, then since he's being defensive, I run back across the bridge with a quick "ha HA!".
My intent is to get to the bonfire room (feel like I'm in a bad spot with the Firebombers potentially on their way, with he crossbow guy potentially coming up behind me). If the crossbow guy takes a shot, I try to take as much cover as possible behind my shield and keep going.

Assuming the layout is the same as the Dark Souls game, I then attempt to goad the undead on the bridge into the bonfire room, and wait around the corner out of sight of the crossbow man. If the crossbow guy comes into the room, I rush him immediately. If the other guy comes in, I wait for him to come to me. If both, I use force.
