Re: For the Glory of Alvina
It resets your invasion clock, meaning people can invade you faster, but it doesn't work the other way around. That is just based off of what hosts you're connected to, and who is available.

I try to lure to Alvina and ten use iron flesh
Sunbro - welcome to the resistance . I never use Iron Flesh in the forest - mobility is life. To deal with bangs you have to either whittle their numbers down (i.e. kill the phantom) or do as Tolvo suggested and funnel them so you can attack them all with your great scythe.
Bangs are the norm in the forest. Its part of our daily lives as a hunter - eventually you will start to welcome them.
Speed and mobility will get you far in this covenant also using your brain to out think farmers is imperative. Remember - sometimes you will immediately have back-up when you invade or you will find yourself alone for awhile. Try to increase your survival time by using either of these two tips (or others you will find posted in this thread) to allow help to arrive to pull your bacon out of the fire.

Re: For the Glory of Alvina
Something I've noticed in evasive maneuvers; if you go down the ladder around the wall WoG can tag you through the wall but Gravelord Sword dance doesn't seem to. Haven't had someone try fire aoe here yet. Since most enemies will have WoG ready I stay a good distance from the wall and rush in for the knock off or use WoG myself just because its fun to watch the scramble

Re: For the Glory of Alvina
Actually, a most devious trick that I've only ever killed someone with once, and damaged some with before. With the murakumo when dead angling, you can strike through walls. So, if I see someone waiting around a corner I will go up to the wall, swing then turn away, swing back in, swing turn away, swing back in, and stunlock them through a wall. This can be used while on the bridge, as the small stones on the other side will stop them from getting pushed away by the lock. it's hard as hell to pull off, but so satisfying.

Re: For the Glory of Alvina
Dedicated DarkHunter here, Generally i have read the majority of this thread and it seems to be quite interesting, especially the CT buffing ents idea
I have got a crestfallen warrior build who is a forest hunter +3 I generally keep the fights going on as long at possible, this attrition allows for me to see the sort of attack pattern they use. Once I work out theirs or their phantoms pattern a prediction parry is in order. The shield that gives me the most luck is the heater shield, You guys should try it. I think the information you have posted is pretty useful Tolvo...
Now for the tips:
Okay I know that many new players to pvp join the forest hunters, these new members are welcome to our ranks but I think a lesson in parrying is in order, one technique I used when I first began hunting was to block their first hit and as soon as that first hit land hit your L2 or LT, this will almost always parry their hit leaving them open for an easy riposte(Even if it doesnt land it will be a partial parry). You see the host cast TWoP?? This farmer clearly lacks skill, a well used Chaos storm, Wrath of Gods or Gravelord Dance is in order. This in my experience scares the farmers away and if they do have the guts to come at you bro, then BAM! they take a *** load of damage. One tip to becoming a better hunter is to always carry Lloyds Talismans with you... if you land a backstab or riposte that doesnt kill it is most likely the host will attempt to estus. The lloyds will completely ruin their plan for this and mean that you can finish them quickly. Also the four rings i run in my backpack are Red Tearstone, Hornets,Wolf and Dark Wood Grain, well and the forest hunters ring ofc xD if you see yourself reaching lowlife you can quickly maneuver a switch to your tearstone and this hyper mode generally is enough to finish most opponents in a couple of hits, i enjoy a partisan +15 for my hyper weapon due to the reach. Any more tips required should be looked up on PhantomEWGF's Channel... Feel free to join my dueling group MiB EU... We host cross covenant events where we help each other out.Examples being our GL's Infect the forest and our hunters do what they do best, Rout the farmers..
Best Regards
Keep up the good work

I think, the most satisfying thing, is knocking someone off a cliff with a well placed Dragonslayer bolt when they don't even know I'm there. It makes all the crap worth it.

Re: For the Glory of Alvina
Re brokewilly's latest video, I didn't see much there that was objectionable. DW seemed to be getting summoned to help fight FHs, and that's what he did when he arrived. The subsequent 2v1 was pretty typical and the host didn't seem surprised by any of it. I suppose one FH could have stood off to wait, but nothing about any of that indicated to me that the host was there for dueling. My experience is that if a host wants to duel, they go up to the open area near Alvina, and don't summon anybody.

Re: For the Glory of Alvina
I still don't get if getting indictments are good or bad.
Duelists are quite insanely awesome when I do come across the few that are there. I always love dueling them, they'll most likely kick my ***, but it's more fun that bum rushing the lone gankers looking to summon. Burned many of those guys who summon as soon as you show up.

It's always a bit funny really, I see three people, I'm probably going to win, I see a duellist, I'm probably going to lose. The difference between combat styles really gets to you.

Oh, taking spots? I'd probably have betrayed the gankers! I technically was one once before I knew what it was, once I found out, I instantly turned on them. So I'm a regular Seath, except not as evil, and betrayaly, and naked, and blind, and magical, and big.

Re: For the Glory of Alvina
I second that - I wish there was some type of cross-platform integration allowing toons to invade in both dimensions (PSN and XLN) - that would be glorious.
I do want to ask a question though - since there are more players on the PSN do you believe the competition is tougher? I know there are gangs of Japanese players on the PSN and these guys treat game play like a freaking job (plus I've seen some of Japanese DkS videos - those guys are beasts!!). Is FH PVP against a larger and possibly more skilled pool of hosts (on PSN) result in fighting for Alvina more difficult? This is not saying there are no skilled trespassers in the forest on the XLN - there are & you can trust me on that.
I'm thinking about getting a copy of DkS for the PS3 so that one of the reasons I'm asking this question. Plus I would like to do some training with forum members on the PS3.

Re: For the Glory of Alvina
I must say, I'm avoiding early morning play because I usually catch a lot of the insanely good japanese gamers. Noon-night I find is the more favorable, both because the gankers will understand messages and I can catch a break from the laaaag staaaabs

Cloud - you have some of the coolest avatars. Do you draw them yourself? I think you may have mentioned you are an artist (or at least can draw) or is that skare I'm thinking of.

Re: For the Glory of Alvina
The duellists are usually the ones who are the most brutal to me, the farmers I usually find to be of very average skill, though I never find the completely stupid ones I always see in videos. I would kill to fight three farmers with greatshields, that would be awesome.

I dabble in a bit of manipulation, as you can tell by my poorly recoloured Ganondorf avatar, you'll notice parts of his face and hand are missing.
