Re: Favorite anime!
I was new to anime when I first found out about Lucky Star. So I had to watch the next episode, and POOF! I was into it!FruitPunchNinja wrote:The first episode of lucky star makes it look HORRIBLE, but it does improve. You have to be into slice of life to enjoy it though. Its not an anime that stood out to me as being good, but not horrible. Honestly if it weren't for the character Konata then i would never of finished watching it. Its kind of a slice of life parody in a way.
And yeah. you have to be into Slice of Life to be able to get into it. But even then you can still learn to like it.
Spoiler Alert! --- I cried when I saw the episode with the ghost of Konata's mom.

One can learn to like having nails driven through their knees. Doesn't mean they'll enjoy learning.

No offence, but it sounds like you're pretty closed-minded. Much like I used to be. Until I became an adult.

Not really. I was saying that one can learn to like anything. I however, don't see the point in learning to like something when I can spend that time enjoying myself.

Re: Favorite anime!
No, merely stating that anyone can learn to like anything. It being true of an anime, or anything else, isn't a reason to take the time to do so, especially when one could be spending that time doing something they already enjoy.
If you're determined to like it you will succeed, but it kinda seems like a waste of effort to work at enjoying something.

Translation: No point trying to enjoy something you don't, when there are other things you already enjoy.
Miku, I'm not a big fan of slice of life myself. I prefer shows with plot, good characters that grow over time, and a decent art style never hurts.

I think I get it now.
Your expression you used earlier, made me think you were trolling. I've never heard that one before.
Sorry about that.

Back on topic.
I like Samurai Champloo and Rurouni Kenshin, if I'm into action.

Thanks cloud. See, just a misunderstanding.
I use metaphors and exaggerate for effect.
Anyways, Yuyu hakasho (manga form) is one of my favorites, but it could be nostalgia glasses.

champloo ended way too weird for me... unless i missed an episode...
Samurai 7 is good not a new story but a good adaptation nontheless
also for supenatural/mystery stuff i've found Ghost hunt to be good even though i tend to shy away from that genre
also has anyone seen the "Samurai horror tales" animes, its not a series, each dvd is a different anime movie by different people, my favorite of them is "Goblin cat"

I'm actually enjoying a Manwha, Witch Hunter. Though I don't like how much fan service tends to pop up, it doesn't take away from the story.

@ForumPirate
I think you are confusing slice of life manga/anime with ecchi. Theres slice of life anime that don't sexualize litte girls and have a feeling of pink bunnys in the atmosphere.

No, I'm pretty sure I know the difference. Pretty sure, either that or my whole life has been a lie. Where are you even getting that from?FruitPunchNinja wrote:@ForumPirate

Re: Favorite anime!
Well chobits is slice of life/ecchi. I just wasnt sure if you considered them both the same genre, or if all slice of life had that style to it. I didn't like chobits. It's plot is somewhat similar to a manga i like though(somewhat) except i think the manga is about 100x better, i feel bad for even comparing them. Its called ressentiment. Its only 4 volumes, its crude humor mixed with slice of life. The main character is my avatar 8)

Re: Favorite anime!
I wasn't giving it a genre. I was saying its Seinen which is manga aimed at 18-30 year old males.
That I'm not into slice of life is a different thing.

Bakuman is one of those
Seriously Forum, I don't think it's as much as you hate an entire genre, because I thought that with a few things before, but it's more you haven't yet found a manga/anime from that genre which you enjoy. It's more you're just reading the wrong thing
Frosty, Death Note was what got me into the whole anime thing a few years ago. The anime adaptation is excellent I have to say there was a lot invested into it. I thought that in the "second half" if you get what I mean the main antagonists lose their impact a bit, but the use of light's pawns gave it a good added dimension.

Re: Favorite anime!
Death note was an awesome show, but it should have ended when a certain character died. The entire second half of that show was totally unnecessary and poor quality compared to the first.
