phantoms continued their work, lifting piles of rubble into walls and hills
designed to hide the gravesworn guarding the ash lake entrance. When the knights came through this pass they
wouldn’t know where they were being struck from. The crow that had caught his attention flew
down to him, landing on his outstretched arm.

finding it in the century old grooves and dents from the old wars.
He carefully removed the note from its leg, the crow taking
off as soon as the message was free.

Avrik
He crushed the note in his fist, the bastard was here. His gauntlet thumped into his chest, a loud
booming catching the attention of the Gravesworn. “Stop working.” his dry voice rasped out “Get
the Bone Hand, all of you.”
The phantoms disappeared as one, their cargo falling to the
ground with a clatter that threw up a cloud of dust. But the servants were already gone, new,
faster phantoms dispatched to the corners of the Tomb to summon the bone hand.

Drake and the Bone Hand lumbered along, crossing through the
darkness of the bonewheel pit and past the Black Knight guardian, Drake
threw the insane knight a salute as he passed in respect. The Knight simply stared towards the tomb,
ignoring the outside world as it always did.
The small army climbed up the lowest reach of the catacombs,
passing countless skeletons and necromancers standing vigil. They passed by the remnants of the titanite
Demon slain by Aeter during the knight’s first attack. The bone hand paused to respect the beast
which had done much for them, only falling to the dragonslayer’s skill after a
long fought battle.
Around the broken bridge they trudged, passing the Statues of
Pain that lined the way, the few that misfired at them glancing harmlessly off
heavy plate. Eventually they reached the
The lower crypt which stairs wound up in a half moon toward the Lower Bride, near to the exit Avrik stood, twirling his scythe impatiently. Upon seeing them he approached Drake.
“They have almost reached the third bridge, I had to
sacrifice a dozen skeletons and a
necromancer to their weapons to slow them down.
What took you so long?”
“We are not your servants Avrik, it took the Bone time to
assemble.”
“Humph, never mind.
Like I said, they are almost here, We must get ready. The darkness will hide us until we can spring
our trap.”
“Trap?” Drake looked incredulous “There is no need for
skulking around our lands Avrik, we have numbers and armour. Come, we can crush them with ease.”
Drake pushed past Avrik and stalked into the grave, his
warriors following behind. Avrik sighed,
enjoying the gesture of futility, and followed them inside, at least he was here.
***
The Knight’s emerged from the third grave into the warmth of
the sunlight. Bone fragments and dust
covered their armour from the skeletons they had crushed. Grant was also splattered in blood after impaling
the necromancer who had been controlling the skeletons. The Knights spread out in a defensive
formation as they emerged.
“They know we are here.” Oscar observed “That attack was too
concentrated.” The solid Astoran plate he wore looked worn and disheveled under the heavy film of gravedust.
“Should we fall back now?” asked Ryan as he voiced his concern.
“Not yet.” replied Oscar “We may still have time.”
Ryan nodded and the knights continued, pushing towards the
Lower bridge. Just as they reached the
start Drake emerged from the lower crypt at the other end.
***
“****” Avrik scowled, his dull green eyes narrowing, now furious at Drake. The plan was undone. The schemes fruitless. The Knights knew.
Both sides were frozen, simply staring at each other waiting
for the first move.
“I suppose this counts as them coming out in force?”
whispered Gabranth as he stroked the haft of his hammer nervously.
“Yep, but let’s not give them any reason to attack.” Oscar
glanced behind him at the knights “Not just yet. When we fall back you’re on rearguard, but
focus on keeping up.”
“Right.”
***
“What now Drake?” Avrik hissed.
Drake’s eyes examined the assembled knights. They were few but they had a slight lead and
a chokepoint nearby. A charge would be
reckless and costly.
“I need you to get around them. They’ll retreat through the Central Crypt
where they’ve got multiple chokepoints they can use. Organise a skirmish screen of skeletons to stop
them....and Avrik... don’t leave us fighting these bastards ourselves”
The last part was a threat
Avrik nodded and disappeared. Now was not the time to argue with Drake, not
with Oscar so close. He disappeared back
into the Lower Crypt, there were plenty of secret passages leading
around behind the knights, he would have plenty of time to trap them.
***
Oscar saw the shape next to Drake flee back from where they
came. Doubtless it was one of Avrik’s
spies sent to get reinforcements. His
hand had just been forced.
“We move now.” he ordered.
The knights collapsed backwards “Ryan you’re on point, blast us a hole.” Ryan took the lead in his massive armour, a
mirror of Gabranth’s. He entered the 3rd
grave with his talisman and tooth at the ready.
The paladins fell in behind him, Oscar entering second last and Gabranth’s
massive bulk acting as a rearguard. The
group moved quickly back up the grave, only the Havel Knight’s bulk slowing
them.
***
As soon as the knights moved Drake acted. “Bone hand charge!” he croaked. The dead knights moved as one, their massive
forms trundling along picking up speed before slowing to enter the grave. The ground rumbled beneath their charge.".

Re: New Forum RP Thread
(I feel I may have miscounted the bridges and named them wrong, sorry for any confusion this may cause)
***
Avrik slipped through the crack in the wall and entered the darkness, the entrance to his preferred secret passage. It was longer than some others, but he always had minions and necromancers waiting for him here. He sprinted past them all, sending out fingers of power to rattle the bone badges they wore. Feeling the vibrations they knew the summons and followed. Four of the Ebon hand and a dozen necromancers, Oscar would have trouble with Drake following close behind. But he had to get there first!
He dropped down by the first bridge, the blade of his scythe just scraping through. The 4 ebon hand dropped down behind him, and Avrik smiled when he realised 5 digits of the hand would fight this important battle. The hand was truly here.
***
The knights overran the last hastily assembled defence before the bridge. The necromancers had tried desperately to stall them but with Ryan simply running over anything they put up and the divine weapons of the paladins making sure any dead skeletons stayed dead. They exited the central crypt a good minute ahead of the slower bone hand, who had reduced speed to stay as a group. But a welcoming party had already been lain out for them, Avrik smiling gleefully and Oscar’s annoyance.
“It ends here Oscar!” he laughed as the knights slowly approached, “You overextended yourself and made a stupid mistake. Now you’ll die and join us.”
Oscar moved to the front of the knights, drawing his sword and talisman as he did so. A crackling spear of lightning grew in his hand, “Dying is your job Avrik.”
“A sense of humour, I like it.” Avrik turned to his men, “Kill them all.”
He turned back and rapidly twisted sideways, a smirk on his face. The lightning spear flashed past his face, he could feel the heat prickling his skin. Time slowed for him as it went by, this, he thought, is what looming death should feel like. The bolt snapped back into real time and blasted into the head of a necromancer, blood spurting upwards from the burnt remains of its neck.
"Too obvious.” he whispered as straightened up and drew his great scythe. The hand advanced, Avrik at its centre, a skeleton army appeared to their rear as the remaining necromancers pushed their power to the limit.
“Gabranth, Ryan to the front, help me with the hand. Aurea, you take the paladins and hit the skeletons, keep them off our backs.” Oscar yelled out orders quickly, “We’ve got to do this fast. But leave the Crow to me.”
“Yes sir!” the knights called back as they manoeuvred the two forces almost within range. Oscar cast his magic into his blade, the power of sunlight infusing it before he drew his shield.
“You will not stop us Avrik!” Oscar yelled as the 2 forces met. The Knights of Havel and Oscar
smashed into the hand, only their speed saving them. Their lightly armoured bodies would be crushed by one hit from the Knights weapons, but they had to hit first. The paladins swung around the first clash, slamming into a wall of bone and fire as the necromancers added their magic into the equation.

Drake heard the sounds of battle from above. “Quickly!” he yelled, “We must catch them before they break through.”
***
As the Ebon hand deftly danced around the slower knights sent to fight them the battle behind them went far worse for the Gravesworn. As Aurea held off the skeletons Simbarda slipped through the gap he made and Andreia tasted necromancer blood.
Seeing the moment he had been waiting for, knowing that the necromancers were seconds from breaking he gave the order “Ryan, Gabranth go through!” ducking under a sweep of Avrik’s scythe he flung himself forward to. Following his lead Ryan and Gabranth forwent fighting for speed and ran through the ebon warriors. They each took a dozen hits, but barely any made it through their thick plate and the 2 were not slowed. Avrik, taken by surprise, dodged rather than attacked allowing Oscar through.
As the rear knights ran through, the paladins had cracked the necromancers open. Half of them were down and the other half were fleeing under a storm of sacrificial skeletons. The knights regrouped on the other side of the bridge just as the bone hand emerged from the crypt, the ebon hand standing between.
“Running away Oscar?” Drake’s voice was carried on the wing, the crackling of wood on a fire.
Oscar pointed his sword at the dead knight “We will meet soon in the future dead knight. I will not waste my men’s lives here today.”
With the way ahead clear the knights retreated as the gravesworn stood watching.
***
“The Knights grow too brazen. Daring to send their leader to scout us out! We should teach them a lesson.”
“What do you suggest Drake?” asked Avrik testily.
The 2 were in the gravesworn war room; Drake stood overlooking the ruins of Izalith as Avrik leant against the doorway.
“They’re always on the attack. I doubt they’ve been paying attention to their defences ...” Drake wondered around the room thinking, “Didn’t they recently move base?”
“Yes. They moved to the archives after their mages through the sorcerers out into the caves.”
Drake turned to Avrik suddenly “We should go on the offensive.”
“You really want us to attack? How the hell would we do that? The archives are a fortress. Seath is a paranoid bastard; he made that place a bastion. It’s the sort of place
the knights are adept at defending. Why not wait for them to attack us? In the dark they’ll be off put, we’ll have the advantage. Not that you seem to care for the dark.” he ended angrily.
“We need to show them we are a force to be reckoned with Avrik. Look at the lifehunters. They spent so long cooped up in their world they lost sight of their own goals.”
Avrik scowled “How would we even get inside?”
“You’re the sneaky one Avrik.” Drake replied “You figure it out.”
Drake moved back to the window as Avrik continued to scowl. “A new home base they’ve just moved into after they fought for it, with the previous owners hiding at their back door waiting for a chance to take it back?” Drake laughed with the sound of a roaring fire, “They’re making it too easy for us.”
Avrik smirked “I know exactly what you mean.”
***
The assembled gravesworn were gathered at the surface graveyard. The followers stood off to the side, and the darkstalkers were emerging from below. A lone sorcerer stood with Drake and Avrik on top of the church.
“For too long the knights have oppressed us!” Drake yelled, the calm winds allowing his voice to reach everyone’s ears, “They have attacked our homes and tried to drive us out.
Now, we bring the fight to them!”
A cheer went up from the gathered army before they set off for the archives.

In a nearby tree, hidden from spying eyes a lone man smiled.
