Any tips for using it effectively in PVP? You know, other than the standard, "don't."

Re: Lighting Spear
saw that you'r doing a O build, so I'm guessing your using the dragonslayer spear right?
In any case, with the DSS, I have found that the strong 2 hand attack is rather usless, due to the fact that the follow up strong attack to launch the player into the air takes to long, but the one hand strong attack (lightning spear) is very useful, I have PvP'd using this setup and suprisingly won a few fights, no one really expects it and it can be very handy. a good shield and good stam can make you a formitable tank due to attacking with shield up.

Re: Lighting Spear
Talisman in left hand, poke with spear, follow up with lightning if they do anything but roll towards you. Swap between slow and fast lightning to throw out their timing. You need to control the fight with your spear... Punish lazy rolls with lightning.
Oh and water.

Re: Lighting Spear
Don't lock on. Really practice throwing them without lock on, and use its range. Even coming close to hitting someone usually either makes people back off when your casting it, or charge, AND that makes a follow up WotG easy to land.

Re: Lighting Spear
*epic facepalm*
sorry about that lol, but having both the DSS lightning spear attack with some standard lightning spears might be to much, 2bh, I don't hit much in pvp with the miracle, so I traded it for force (actually quite fun to use and comes in good handy).

Re: Lighting Spear
Ahh, so you want to be like me do you? well let me give you some tips.
Just as Maneater_Mildred said, Talisman in left hand, Spear in right.
but if you meant "where's the best place to use this miracle" I'd say in more narrow areas of course, you can make use of it in open areas at a distance too, but areas like Sen's Fortress or inside the Cathedral in Anor Londo are the best, and at a distance, you don't want to get backstabbed, and casting that miracle out in the open is just begging for that. However, you can use the Spears one-handed R2 fast lightning attack as well to trick others, improvise if you must my friend!
Also, the two-handed R2 attack CAN be somewhat useful with my trusty Spear, in PvP, many people expect quick slashes or stabs, see if you can surprise a player (if they look like they have low poise) with a Spear thrust! the Great Lord Greatsword has a long-charging R2 attack too, but you CAN hit catch people off guard, again, best used in narrow areas really, if you do plan to use it.
Good luck, Warrior!

Yes! that's how you do it, I still have my original save and I tend to use that Sword alot when I play on it, the R2 attack can be very handy, as well as the rolling slash-down attack.

Re: Lighting Spear
Sir Ornstein, if you please, would you tell us of your relationship with Smough? Is he your friend? Or lover perhaps? Are you a chubby chaser?

Sir... I have no sexual relationship with Sir Smough, we have our differences of course, but he is a very physically strong being and I respect him for that.
I have reason to believe that he holds some resentment towards me over the decision made to not let him join the ranks of the Four Knights. Strength is one crucial element for a Knight, however, his motives and interests and... eating habits... seem to linger on a more... dishonorable path.
However, we are companions as it is, and we will put our lives on the line together to repel the invaders of Anor Londo and protect the Princess at all costs.

Re: Lighting Spear
The miracle is a real gankers tool, mostly used to blindside the opponent when they're focused on another player. In other words, it's mostly used cheaply. I think using it in a duel is asking for a roll bs, it's so incredibly slow and you're never going to get to a safe range to chuck them.

Re: Lighting Spear
You'll need 45 Dex, I have a similar build and it's super fun.

Re: Lighting Spear
Wow, the time to cast sunlight spear was really short at 45 dex. O_o Why does the wiki say dex doesn't effect miracles?

I COMPLETELY forgot about that.
Yes, a friend also confirmed that to me recently, Dexteriy DOES affect the casting time of all types of spells, including Pyromancy, I'm not 100% sure about Soul spells and spells cast with a Catalyst though.
