Alvina, I am sorry for killing Artorias in the past. But... I only did it to get more tools hunting down those who desecrate your holy woods... You surely know how to punish your own. How can I ever redeem myself?

i have actually, its pretty good and since it stunlock just like the mace i have bled people with it, its hard though since somehow most of the people i fight know how to swap out of a stunlock but sometimes i get it and its pretty awesome. i love the pickaxe with leo ring but since i lose a ring slot that meant i gotta go med roll with poise and fast roll no poise which isnt really a good idea and imo not worth it since youre the one thats gonna end up getting stunlocked. and the butcher knife needs to get some love too, that thing has some reach(and phantom hits too)

but she gives them to you, if you missed them then just trade for them. i guess gettin to the dlc is easy enough though.

@ Skare - Rant is correct - you can either trade Astorias soul for them or you can keep the soul and kill her for the two tracers. Most people probably kill her so they can make the Astorias flip sword along with keeping the tracers. Ciaran is deadly on NG+ - the duel-wielding of those tracers will kill you quick. On my NG+ toon I used the DSS to keep her at bay and she still was able to get some hits in.

Cirian is deadly even on ng man she gave wulf trouble in the blood iron tarkus armor broke she nearly bleed me out 2 times

Ok people I have a questions:

What type of shields are y'all using since dark magic has hit the scene? I know you can evade and dodge dark magic but has it changed the type of shield you use? I'm having trouble deciding whether to stick with grass shield or reconfigure completely so I can use cloranthy along with the crest shield on my SL128. At this soul level dark magic can kill you outright sometimes. I am a stamina hog so I need the extra buff and I don't wear a MoC on this toon so I decided to use cloranthy instead. Dark magic has mainly been a problem when I am in close quarters combat so I decided to give the crest shield a whirl with some measure of success.The extra protection has helped me since I am mistake prone. Getting blasted in the face all of a sudden by a dark orb and dang near killed is getting old real quick. I will say I am seeing a lot more crest shield use now even though it has always been a good shield.

My other two toons are not having dark magic nightmares since at low level I don't see much magic anyway and at high SLs I have GMB/MB for protection.

I've always used the crest shield. Way too much magic and WoG going on.

I've always used the heater shield or leather shield since I cant spare any weight. Even with th damn crest shield sometimes I either get ohko with the new sorceress or I'm left with about one percent or my hp. You're better off learning hip to Dodge them than block them since they will break your guard and the rest will hit you and Youre gonna go bye bye.

I roll through pursuers and dodge dark bead just like CSS or any magic like that. Unfortunately lag sometimes ruins it. But in the forest there's usually enough room to just back away until pursuers vanish. Also, GMB is my new best friend.

Thanks for everyone's input on the use of crest shield as some level of protection from dark magic. My reconfiguration testing on my SL128 went well last night.I am rocking the crest shield and cloranthy for a stamina buff. Iwill only try to block dark magic as a last resort - evading is the word of the day. I also have the silver pendant quick slotted and will only use if I have enough spacing so I don't get attacked when I activate it. I had to drop my poise down to 36 which I believe is adequate since I try to evade most attacks. I can quickly change to RTSR or Wolf mid-fight if needed. Things are definitely looking up for my SL128:D.

Still lurking here. Sadly, have had little luck connecting. Wish I had tales of forest victories. Sigh

Pick one of your SL 100/120 builds and join the forest hunter covenant. Proceed to next new game.

Speedrun the game with these rules:

- Must wear the cat covenant ring at all times, except when invading, or invaded
- Always human form
- No healing when invading
- No chain backstabbing
- No skipping bosses. Painted world/gwyndolin and dlc areas are optional
- No suiciding or black crystal when invading, unless you simply can't find the host.

This is indeed a difficult challenge - might just try this in the future. I have seen a couple of Youtuber's do this challenge.

Just recently I switched to 135 build for forest hunting and tbh I really enjoy it. It's dex/int build with CMW and Rapier +15, sage chest, chain leggings, knight gauntlets, mothers mask, wolf and hornet rings. Using Dark Bead as backup only and backstabs against double team.
Getting invasions pretty fast, same as my regular 120 build but also I'm getting invaded too to get some humanity. I guess, I will stick to this build while lvling proper arena 100 build.
