I have gotten a few PMs from opponents saying the TC Pole hits like a truck (meaning damage). You have to be very aggressive with the TC Pole - and if u watch ur spacing you can really punish an opponent at distance.Plus I just love eating through shields.

The thing is that is halberds in general hit like trucks. not the TCP specifically. its why I run a chaos G hally on my 55. TCP is incredibly fun but I have to say that its not the king of the halberds silly

And so, at long last, I rejoin the hunt. SL 65 with Quelaag's may not be the best idea ever, but whatevs.

First invasion the host and I kill each other at the same time. A good start?

WHAT IS EVEN HAPPENING! 5 invasions, no ganks, no hornet ring, no DWGR. The game has changed so much since I left.

    Oh. There's the TWoP+WotG spamming.

Dan I agree - the damage output from other halberd type weapons are much greater especially since the TC Pole does split damage. For some reason I have become fond of the weapon maybe because it rarely seen and I know some of my opponents are saying "WTF - I just got beat by a freaking catch pole  !!!" I'm going to get in the pit with Wolf and learn how to use the other ones properly one day. cheers

And where have u been Dan - we need all the help we can get keeping these ganking fools in check lol!

    Still evolving folks.....

Hey people, it seems like we rarely share hunting stories here anymore. So, here's some random babble about my most recent forest pvp experience, reader discretion is advised:

So, I went back to the forest after some time. I got my *** handed to me a few times but also got a lot of nice gank kills. After invading with my main forest hunter setup for a while i decided to do some invasions with leather set, fog ring and black bow of pharis. Basically i just ran around the forest and shot arrows at gankers from a distance and used different shortcuts and tricks to escape them. Usually i manage to separate the host from the phantom like that and then it's often easy to finish the host with a surprise dark silver tracer backstab and wake-up pyros. Naturally, gankers don't like it when i first waste their time and then kill them. I got two messages. Surprisingly, the first one was an honest gg message from a japanese player and apparently he was amazed by my escaping skills, lol!

The second message was from a random guy and it was a typical hatemail calling me noob and coward and all that stuff related to my sexual orientation. Well, I ignored the rage and politely asked if he was interested in fighting me 1v1 to prove his skill. I have done this numerous times before (usually after a trolling session) but not once have i been challenged to a duel by a ganker. To my surprise, he accepted the offer and promised to summon me in moonpit. I used one of my sl 120 builds and he used an sl 135 build.

First fight: I see he has the gold tracer and dwgr. I just out ranged him with mlgs and poked a few times with velka's rapier. I think he hit me twice.

Second fight: He realized he's not gonna catch me with the gold tracer stunlock and instead had parrying dagger and dark silver tracer. He got one poise backstab but otherwise didn't hit me once. He also ate all 5 soulmass orbs and rolled right in to my manual aim mlgs r2 and died.

Third fight: He desperately spams his parrying dagger and i decide to see if he actually knows the parry timing and i spam mlgs attack at him. He actually did parry me and soon after that backstabbed me to death. This is what always happens when i start fooling around in duels. Embarrassing death.

Last fight: I decided to teach him a lesson about countering backstabs and equipped a shotel. Locked off r1 spam stunlock almost killed him when he tried to circle behind my back. He ate some soulmass orbs again (god those things hit hard with tcc) and I finished him with a counter bs.

Well, it was a weird experience. Never before has a ganker actually agreed to duel me. In all honesty, it was nowhere near as satisfying to beat the crap out of a ganker in duels as i always imagined. But it did remind me of Brokewilly's incident with that one ganker who even uploaded a video about him. I couldn't find it anymore when i searched for it. Has it been deleted?

It's funny how I can have a good night of forest hunting despite losing most of my fights to double teams. It is the victories that make it all worth it. Case in point:

I invaded the same guy 3 times last night. In fact he was the only guy I had a repeat invasion with. The first time I killed him and his phantom with the help of a fellow hunter. It was such an epic fight, with trading off and covering each other. I made a forest hunter friend when it was all over.

The second time I invaded, I caught him alone. It was close, but again I was victorious.

The 3rd and last time he had a friend and the forest hunter ally was afk. I hate afk forest hunters both as a hunter or as a host. Fortunately for me the phantom was slow, awkward, and timid. He would go for a BS when I was fighting the host, but would back off the moment I waved my sword at him. In other words, not much help. I used loyds to keep the host from healing, and killed him, despite having to dance around to avoid the BS.

That alone would have been enough, but I would be treated to one more epic moment. My last fight of the evening was against a zeiwehander wielding robed opponent. I invaded. He buffed with fire. We fought 1v1. The speed of my washing pole against the brute force of his weapon. We fought tactically, always shifting, feinting, and baiting each other. In the end I won because he got impatient and tried to finish the fight quicky with great combustion. I fight GC all the time with my lvl 12 sunbro in the burg where one hit is death. We both were down to about 20% health and I showed him how the washing poles' reach was just long enough to avoid most of the fire damage he was attempting. Two counter hits were enough to finish him.

But the best was yet to come. 234,000+ souls. At lvl 93 I had just beaten a lvl 440 something. For me, a great way to end an evening of forest hunting. 👽

It was originally here to discuss tactics for forest hunting. People mainly use it similarly to PvP Tales, only in the Forest now, but it has its uses. silly

Great players frequent this thread too.

It's a shame that, with this post, I ruin my posts of 4544. It was exactly double of yours.

And, I have no praiseworthy tales in the forest to speak of, just the usual.

Since RenegadeCop was asking for the purpose of this thread, i figured this would be a good chance to share my forest hunting video with you: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iV9SMuuEZwE

A short commentary that i would hope you to read :

I tried to avoid making another setup parry compilation, i'm sure you can find a lot of those from youtube. But, as you will see, the video doesn't include a lot of the times when i die in the forest. I did include a lot of failing, and situations where i was simply lucky, but i figured that everyone knows how it looks like when you get ganked to death so this didn't turn out to be the most unique gankspank video after all. However, to balance that i also wanted to keep the mood laid back and maybe laugh a little bit at the serious attitude people sometimes have about forest pvp. I hope you will enjoy. happy

Oh, and if you don't like backstabbing, this one is definitely not for you.

Best part I would think is where you backstabbed someone, I can't remember where. Then, the guy behind you tries to backstab you, you just turn around and parry him, that is something I wish I could do.

It's a risky move because if their timing is perfect, you will get backstabbed. But it's so damn satisfying when it works. There's really nothing complicated to it. Just do it unlocked so you can turn around faster. Pivot as soon as the backstab animation ends and parry. Having some poise helps if you miss the parry and get hit. And if you miss the parry, roll away as soon as possible or the guy who you backstabbed will get up and return the favor.
