Remember that thread I created a long time ago with info about the new content? or maybe you read it in the official PrepareToDie.com page of DkS.

Well, here are some things they said were going to be in the new content:

    Matchmaking - Co-op and PvP | No co-op matchmaking
New Enemies like the Abyss Guard | We saw pictures about this guy but never appeared
New areas like Oolacile Tomb or Old Ruins | No areas named like that, though they might have renamed the Tomb to Township, but I really believe this is not true, because Oolacile Township does not have any Tomb-like feeling, and the Chasm of The Abyss is another thing.

Also I'm the only that feels that the new content is too short? In terms of gameplay I mean. There are just 3 bosses, and an extra boss optional (Kalameet). And Artorias is almost hugging Kalameet in terms of distance. Also the Royal Forest is completely empty, only a thousand enemies to bother you, then what? I explored it all already, it's boring to do, there are just some souls (not even good ones), the set of the Guardian, and one Elizabeth's Mushroom. That's it. I feel like the only true place is the Oolacile Township and the Chasm of The Abyss, so what? 2 areas?

Now the Sanctuary Guardian with good weapons can be beated in no time. Artorias may take you some time because of it's moves, but it's a medium boss. Now Manus may be a bit difficult, okay. Well, that's it. You finished the content.

Also no new miracles? Just one pyromancy? I'm ok with sorceries though, but I believe they should added at least 1 int based weapon.

If you already completed the new content and you're experienced in DkS, think about it for a second, it too short. Kalameet it's cool yeah, but he is not even in a new area. He in the Royal Forest, a transition place from Oolacile Sanctuary to Oolacile Township (with Artorias in the middle). Do you see what I see? It's all too close to each thing, all too short.

Don't get me wrong, I like the new content, but I think that they made it sound like if it were going to be bigger than this, I wanted it to be bigger than this, and I think that in terms of single-player gameplay the new content does not add too much.

I played blind, and I remember being so very happy when I got past Artorias to see there was more. I think the additions are fantastic, but obviously I would love more. I really love the bosses. You may have missed a slab in the Garden, btw.

What Slab? And what Garden? I think you mean Royal Forest, and the Slab in Kalameet's boss area.

No, there's a slab in the Royal Garden/Forest too. Pretty well hidden.

I don't know about it then. Could you tell me where? I will find it, make a video, and put in the wiiki. I admit I have not searched everywhere meticulously but I covered the entire area and I didn't see any chests. So, where is it?

Not too far from the shortcut that takes you back to the Chester/Artorias area. It's a chest hidden in the reeds in one of the pools of water. Facing from the bonfire toward the shortcut it'd be a little way to your left.

Okay so I will check the area near the elevator, that takes you to Chester, up above. Thanks for the heads-up. If I find I will record how to find it and post it in the wiki. Thanks again.

And, just for curiosity, did you also got surprised by the agressivity of the Sanctuary Guardian the first time you played against him? I had that feeling, it reminded me so much of the Flamelurker.

Absolutely. It's a brutal introduction. It immediately put my worries about From 'dumbing down' the combat for a broader appeal to rest. Him and Manus both have a Flamelurker feel to me. The Gaurdian moreso, mostly I suppose because of that rear-back stomp thing he occasionally does; VERY Flamelurkerish.

If I recall my first playthrough correctly...

Great Hollow, Undead Asylum (2) and Painted World of Ariamis aren't easy places to find by oneselfs. Unless someone told me they existed, I might never have found them. They are probably somewhere there. Why else would they mention them?

Also, I think some of the trailers showed the player walking into a tunnel from a forested area, which were speculated to be the tombs.

I already found the Slab. It's a Blue Slab, found in a chest hidden by brushes, inside a water pool. It's literally in the center of the Royal Forest. I already record how to get it, I will upload it tonight and add it to the wiki.

That tunnel it's the path to the Sanctuary Garden, going from the Oolacile Sanctuary, it's actually coming back. They told us there was going to be an Oolacile Tomb, and showed that scene, so everyone though that was the entrance. Even now it looks like it would take to somewhere else instead of a crappy short tunnel that leads to the Sanctuary Garden where 2 Sanctuary Guardians wait for you. (2 spawn if you come back).

I have to admit i was a tad bit dissapointed. Although I'm happy that I at least got something. Altogether though it only adds about 4 hours of gameplay if that. Also we don't know yet they're could be more places we don't know about, although I do doubt that. But altogether what they done to the game is a HUGE change for me. They fixed pvp and done a lot of things they should have done.

You're honestly surprised the new content is short? They had to juggle both the PC release and the console DLC development, and get the DLC ready for the former. Besides, it's still great value.

I mostly agree with you on this.

The area deal though, this is what I expected from the start; a rehashed Darkroot so im not that bothered about it.

It is a little short but it's larger than the painted world and honestly that is what I was expecting.

The matchmaking though... god... why the *** did they use the word matchmaking if they effectively just put in what we already had set up ourselves at the burg eh?

Probably if there is a secret area, someone would noclip to it, or find a warp in the codes. The noclip part should be a lot easier, not sure about the warp one though in how long that could take.

To be honest I'm not disappointed at all.

When I first entered it, it was bonfire, linear path, boss, linear path, bonfire, linear path... and I was starting to see a pattern and was getting worried.. But then the next area was fun and challenging enough to get through, and had two good bosses.. Then the next two areas were very well done, with a lot of secrets, added a lot to the lore...

I'm really happy with it, specially seeing as whoever bought it for computer paid like 30€ for the whole game WITH the DLC for free! That's amazing. Console players have it a little worse, but it's only 15€.

Don't know why anyone would expect more from it! It's amazing, truly!

Well my view of it is that the content of the DLC is not worth the price, but, I think that Dark Souls itself is worth more than the normal price of a game. So I take that as sort of a little bit of incentive to buy the DLC. So I will buy it, not because of the DLC itself but because of the entire game and my wanting to support Fromsoft. Though how they handled the DLC does worry me, I'm giving the benefit of the doubt and I'll definitely buy it. Would be cool though if there really are secret areas.

Actually it sort of seems like paying for new content, and a patch. Which with how consoles do patching, sort of makes sense.

    Another quick point, something you said Tolvo sparked this in my head;

I really dont think this is content originally planned for release then held back now released as dlc. This was always intended to be DLC. Once you play it through I htink youll know what I mean...

The Abyss guards are just the regular enemies with the weird head in the Oolacile Township area.
