Imagine if you...
...got the chance to add a totally new area through a DLC in Dks, anything you'd like, what would it be? Your very own area, whether it be a new area with a boss or anything totally different, WHAT WOULD IT BE?
Now, i know it's probably good to start off with an example myself buuuuuuuut, i honestly don't know, so i'll have to get back to it, but yeah. Yeah.

Re: Imagine if you...
Oh, umm like a giant castle but bigger than Anor Londo, a mystical looking area. And it would be in ruins with collapsing floor and a blueish colored castle. Then you get to the boss who is protecting the most bad*** weapon ever. And you fight him but he fights like a player with over 2500 health. Epicness.

Re: Imagine if you...
Actually, now that i think of it, i'd add a puzzle like mysterious forest with a dark atmosphere. The forest would unravel mysteries that we never got an answer to. It would mainly be based on traps and puzzles and not so much enemies as most other areas, it would also give you hope just so that it could later on break you down..
Like maybe finding some sort of companion that turns out to be the final boss of the whole area...Yeah, that's def what i'd have added as an DLC!

Re: Imagine if you...
Hmm I'm not sure. Perhaps use one of the odd looking doorways that have no purpose to add a new area to the game.
At the end would be another reference to King's Field, another dragon boss, which would be called Guyra. With which when you cut off its tail you'll get the other sword in King's Field (Can't remember which one, just remember in the end of the game there were two swords, the Moonlight Sword and some other sword).
Maybe have a new area that reveals the God of War, be it a new character or a character that is all ready in the game.
Maybe have another jump in time and have the character go back to just before Lost Izalith fell into ruins.
So many possibilities.

Re: Imagine if you...
I suppose DkS could use something akin to the Old Monk fight in DeS. Clearly 3-2 DeS is the Anor Londo/Painted World equivelant. Maybe a place accessed through Anor Londo, much like Painted World, that has a fight where a pvp'er can become the boss at the end. Maybe make the reward for winning a reprisal, since it's hard to get those through invasions?

Re: Imagine if you...
A tomb maybe for giants nah it would be like a mixture of tower of latera and TOG, the main enemy would be pitch black flame pyromancers that dropped all new pyromancies. the upper level enemies would be dark sorcerers and the boss would have 2 parts, the first would be a covenant related PVP fight where its just an all out battle to the death, the in game boss that would come after the guardian would be shadow knight (mixture of tower knight and OLD hero

Re: Imagine if you...
I'd add a new area that doubles as a PvP zone, centred around a decrepit, crumbling castle. It'd work on the basis of the existing covenants, but with new items for entering PvP. The Way of White, Princess Guard, Warriors of Sunlight and Blades of the Darkmoon would be allied covenants that count as the same thing insofar as being summoned for PvP is concerned, whereas Gravelord Servants and Darkwraiths would be the opposite. Forest Hunters, Chaos Servants and Dragon Servants would each be neutral.
The idea is that the fortress is populated by the phantoms of fallen knights, fighting a battle that has never ended in their minds. Which covenant you belongs to defines which side is hostile to you. Likewise, the boss is different depending on said covenant. Forest Hunters, Chaos Servants, Dragon Servants and characters without covenants are hostile to everything, including both bosses.
New equipment would be primarily centred around faith, strength and dexterity, largely being comprised of weapons, with perhaps a new set of armour or two. New weapons that jump to mind are the poleaxe (a quick, heavy-hitting weapon without much sweep and middling range), a few straight sword variations, a new greatsword or two and likely a new shield. Many of these weapons would have their own "rules" which play with the standard way things are done in the game. For instance, one of the new straight swords might provide more of a bonus than usual for using two-hands, but also be able to parry when used two-handed. The poleaxe would be unusual in its combination of speed and damage, tempered by its limited arc and forgettable range.
Perhaps a few new miracles would be in order, too, like one that temporarily increases your poise, or one that makes you immune to damage until your poise is broken (that one would definitely need a 50 faith requirement).
With rings, there's a lot that can be done. What about a ring that converts all damage you deal during a riposte into lightning damage? It could be paired with a new straight sword that does additional critical damage for some good old knightly retribution. There could be a ring that increases the speed of, specifically, two-handed heavy attacks. Or a ring that reduces the equip burden of certain sets of armour. The kind of stuff that really supports knightly characters.

Re: Imagine if you...
"Dragon Temple" is the area. After you beat the Bed of Chaos and satiated the Lordvessel, the roots of the pit have grown and lead you to an ackward looking stone door. Upon opening the door, you come across a long hall which leads to a fog gate. Upon entering the fog gate, you hear a loud roar and boss name and HP appear known as " Noradggod ". It is a gigantic dragon about twice the size of Ceaseless Discharge with very humane fists, the area is a temple where you will be fighting, but the dragon stands in a large sea of lava.
The details of the fight can be left up to you to decide. Personally, I would like to add a design where you shoot gigantic crossbow bolts at its arms to incapacitate it, but I don't know...
Anyways, you can use its soul to create a Ultra Greatsword that deals blunt damage. It has a special quality of having extremely fast 2H Dashing and rolling attacks. Yeah, that is all...

That's easy, Gwyn's Fortress. It would be populated by legions of Black Knights, as indicated in the opening sequence, with an Elite Black Knight, their commander if you will, as the end of level boss.

Re: Imagine if you...
A memory through ancestry loyalty type of thing. Offer enough souls to an altar, and a cutscene occurs. Your character falls into a deep sleep, being granted the memory of a historic battle... the battle of the Lords vs The Dragons. Depending on your covenant, you fight alongside Gwyn, the Sisters of Chaos, or Nito. And to add a more complex mix into it... if you choose the pendant as a starting gift, not obtained by drop, and are a Darkwraith.. you get to adventure alongside the Pygmy.

This, but how could you not get into more detail?
I've been lurking this thread for a bit and now I just have to contribute a bunch of ideas based off of Gazman's idea.
Imminent wall of text..
- Spoiler:
- Gwyn's Fortress can be another area that you would have to travel back in time to reach. Gwyn's Fortress would be the name of the area as a whole, with each zone being named independently. Some zone names that come to mind are Fortress Keep (First area, black knights err'where) , Gwyn's Armory (Stronger Black Knights along with Elite Black Knights), and the maybe the final area would be so deep in the Fortress that you're very close to what the Fortress was built to guard (maybe what creates the Black Knights IS the boss? )
Fortress Keep's level design can be similar to that of a medieval castle, but with a heavy black knight theme to it (large suits of black knight armor as decoration, ect). The twist to this area is that the black knights are currently at war with the Chaos Demons (the ones mentioned in the description of the BK weapons. They posses some form of chaos flame powers or pyromancies). The zone can start off in an open battlefield that leads up to the Fortress (black knights and chaos demons litter the field, black knight archers on top of the fortress fire down on the area). Keep in mind you're an enemy to both groups so no one is safe. Once inside, the fortress is populated with Black Knights, that slowly
introduces new Black Knight weapons (Claws, Hammer, Spear?), aswell as some more Chaos Demons.
As you
progress the black knights gradually overwhelm the chaos demons in numbers. The boss at the end
of the Keep can be 'The 4 Horsemen' (4 Unique Black Knights that ride
horses? Perhaps taking attributes from the original 4 horsemen War,
Death, Famine, and Pestilence).
After that boss the next area would begin, Gwyn's Armory. Elite Black
Knights are encountered here in packs with black knights, making this area pretty challenging . Maybe they can buff up nearby black knights with a war cry? (Grants them new moves to accompany their basic moveset, maybe a lunging attack, a grab, ect). Maybe a new Elite Black Knight set can be found in the area . The boss for this area can be a really agile Black Knight archer in a fairly open battleground (Unique abilities like tumbling / dashing to avoid hits, charge up shots that go through shields / have better tracking, a multi-shot special attack, ect).
The last area can take a drastic twist and turn into an ancient ruins area - the true area the black knights are guarding. Styled after the Kiln of the First Flame, but since its in the past the whole area hasnt been damage from the original linking of the fire. At this point the boss options are limitless
Yep. Just my 2 cents.

That's easy Xsculled, why make an effort to think when you can get likeminded souls to do it for you?
Seriously though, I didn't have the time to go into detail, seeing as that I am supposed to be working and all, but even if I did I don't think I could of come up with a list of suggestions better than your own, even if I had a million monkeys on typewriters to help me! Great work, and here's a deserved +1 for putting some flesh on the meagre bones of my lil idea.

Re: Imagine if you...
I'd really like a gauntlet style DLC where its just boss after boss after boss of other bosses you've already defeated with some tweaks to make them harder. But the conclusion would be an epic fight with Artorias in his prime.... and the lore would be discovering that artorias was actually trying to take power frmo gwyn... whether to save the world or to just be a bad ***, would be the mystery.
but the kicker is i'd really like to be able to selectively revist boss fights visome type of menu and just play those with different characters. some of the boss fights in this game i love doing with different builds. doing them again with different mechanics/tweaks would be really cool... ie, gaping dragon that was actually difficultwould be fun.

Re: Imagine if you...
If I could create a world, it would be like the world 1 of Demon's Souls, but much more disorted. The enemies should attack about 15% faster and there should be a lot of bonewheels and a few cliffs and traps to make the experience harder. Also, I would love a NPC BP that drops Morion Blade (Demon's Souls).
There should be bosses from Demon's Souls: A mini boss Maiden Astraea and her protector as well as the area boss Old King Allant (false). The fight should be in the same arena with the same bugs and everything, but he should have more Hp, more poise and less poison resistance. After he dies, I would love to see a cutscene where he get's crushed by the old one, who fights like a cross between Dark Soul's Ceaseless Discharge and the Adjudicator.
Rings I would like to be in the area: A working Ring of Condemnation, a Demon Ring (halfes Hp, but gives the player the abilities he would gain if he would be in all covs at +3 at the same time and doubels the usage of cov spells) and Old Glory Ring (halfes stamina, but de-nerfs rings, spells and special-effect armor like the family masks).
Magic I would like to be in the area: Cursed Revival with 1 casting (revives the caster once, but puts im into cursed state. Can't be used as a phantom).
Soul Stealer with 4 castings (insantly kills a non-boss enemy, but gives your world the Gravelord Curse. Can't be used as a phantom or against a phantom, including the GL-phantoms).

Re: Imagine if you...
i'd just want a small area under sens fortress, (accessed via that wall a rapier balder knight guards)
past said wall would be an elevator leading to the fortresses treasure chamber... which is full of mimics, one of which is 3 times the size of normal but will ask you to join a covanent instead of eating you, the way the cov works it that you use the coin items you collect to rank up and can invade coin holders via a copper eye orb, the rewards for ranking up are as follows
join: mimic helm stops hurting you
rank1: mimic helm defense doubles
rank 2: mimic helm poise doubles (30poise)
rank 3 : Avarice being your sustaining force the mimic helm now heals you 3 hp a second.
ten copper coins = 1 silvercoin and 5 silver= 1 gold, you need a total of 10 gold to reach rank 3.
invasions net you coins based on level difference.
at your level= copper
50 above= silver
100 above= gold
note: you can only access the area if your wearing the helmet.
