Has anyone figured out if non-DLC folk can pick up dropped DLC items?

If so, my first character I brought into the DLC could drop Artorias and Ciaran sets for someone. Or if it's unknown I can test it out with someone; I won't use them with this character, and with BB gone, no use holding onto them for a rainy day.
