I thought it would be funny if we managed to find each other's messages on our travels. 8)
I left |Praise the sun!| in front of the empty pedestal in O&Smo's hall (geddit because it's Solaire, not Gwyndolin).


I also left one saying "Amazing trap ahead" in front of Gwyndolin but that one was less tasteful.

Ive got one down in front of gwynevere 'be wary of amazing chest.' Ive never got anyhumanity from a message, does the rating system work? You ever get any humanity from yours anastacia?

Only about three or four times - my theory is that the higher you're rated, the longer your messages last, and all the top rated ones have been around since release. More often than not, no one can really be bothered to uprate.

I put a "Weakness: Backstepping," at the top of the stairs to Rickert. Mostly to remind myself to be careful for when I come back to DkS after a break since pressing B is used to interract in many other games. Doesn't always work.

"Bonfire ahead", next to the illusory wall in the lava area in Lost Izalith. Rating 2
"Bonfire ahead", before the second bonfire in ToG. Rating 1
"Be wary of arm", next to the portal that leads to the DLC. Rating 1
"Lava?", near the Darkroot Garden bonfire. Rating -1

Those are my only messages that have been rated.

When I rate things -1 they show as rating 1, does a minus rating do anything?

You can see minus ratings on your messages, or by using the Seek Guidance miracle.

Only the person who has placed the message can see the +s and -s.
Let's say that a message has 5 plus ratings and 5 minus ratings. For other players, it will show as "Rating: 10" because it's been rated ten times. For the person who placed it, it will show as "+Ratings: 5 -Ratings: 5"

The messages don't disappear at all however you can only have about 10 down at a time before your oldest get deleted. I have a full soapstone full of 0 ratings lol.

I always place "Safe Area Ahead" at the base of that little hill around the corner from the last cragspider between the bonfire and Quelaag. If you sit on top of it your can kill the boulder barbarians without them being able to hurt you.

The seek guidance miracle allows you to see the + and - ratings of everyone's messages.

I placed "Sniper Spot" messages for those who are inclined to murder butterflies in the Crystal Caves. One of them skyrocketed all the way to +1

Once I placed a message that said "Need Wings" on the invisible path to the slab. I think it's gone now.

Also, I keep finding messages that state "Amazing Chest", "Gorgious view", "Need Tail", and "Try holding with both hands" in front of Gwynevere. Can we get more originality (and grow up) please? I'm tired of seeing the same stupid messages over and over again.

Also, stop placing "Praise the Sun" in front of the sunlight alter.

What did it mean?

I was wondering, if you delete the character that placed a message, will it disappear too?

as far as i know the the messages are tied to whichever character you were playing when you wrote them and when you go offline the messaged disappear from the lobby/server.

i've never had a message rated, i try to leave helpful ones all the time too. the only message i ever see with high ratings are ones like "bonfire" right next to the bonfire in Firelink. seriously? why?

@Reece That message didn't have any particular meaning. I saw that the corner with the rubble didn't have any messages so I thought I would jump there and place my own message. Then I erased it after a few days.

The first time I saw Amazing chest ahead in front of Quelaag I laughed my socks off, but it gets old fast, especially when you know people are reposting for upvotes.

Seconding the comment about upvotes on the word "bonfire" in front of a bonfire. I don't get that either. I also hate when people get themselves into tight spots just so they can post "Here!". Eg, I saw a message on top of the pile of rubble next to the fire outside the forest. I wasn't going to spend half my life trying to strategically place myself so I could roll up it, but I bet my arse it says "Here!"

Gives them one hummanity.

EDIT: gives one hummanity to the person who left the message.

I remember always trying to leave messages by the boss fights. They never got rated at all so I stopped putting them down.

I also tried to cover all of firelink shrine in messages because I was bored. I think I might work on that later.

I had one of my messages voted all the way up to 22 or something ridiculous like that. I put down a sign a ways before the silver knight by the spiral stairs from the anor londo bonfire room, it said "Weakness: Parrying."

I got -2 rep for posting "Bonfire?" near darkroot garden bonfire :/

I've gotten tired of seeing the same messages over and over again, so I just down vote most of them, especially if they are placed in an area that people place summon signs. Sometimes I might find one I like, so I up vote it.
