Does the Darkwraith armor suck?

I never see anyone wearing it. Is it pretty mediocre?

it is mediocre, but in no way bad. I use pieces of it sometimes.

i used it on my frist character and i like the way it looks but there are better sets out there

It's just nothing special. I use it for my Dark Wraith cosplay of course, but it's just an armor set that requires a cov rank, upgrading with twinkling, then ends up not even being a good set just a bit below average.

I have a fully upgraded set and it sits in my BB. There are so many sets that are better. It doesnt have good DEF or Poise. Really all it has going for it is the look. Once you get over that , you are looking at very average stats. If I had to fight something , I would rather use balder set than this , which you can get at the begining of the game and not have to lose Frampt over.

solaires is lighter and gives similar or better defense... only use is style and maybe elemntal resistances....

Its nothing special. Stats are easy to look up. It doesn't offer enough poise/damage resistance ratio for most hardcore types. Its good for looks which to some (me) can matter more most of the time.

I like to mix it in with my build that uses the thorn set for rolling stunlocks. The armors compliment each other nicely visually and the DW armor actually has generally better defensive stats than the Thorn set does.

I'm a sucker for armour sets but somehow this never appealed. I've decided not to bother collecting any more after I wasted a load of souls on the Artorias set which I think looks terrible but that's only my opinion and no doubt a lot of people like it. I much prefer Ciaran's armour but then I'm female. I love the way it looks and the Porcelain Mask means I don't have to look at my horrible hollow face.

If it makes you feel any better I don't really like the Arty set visually either. The thin little legs really bother me ascetically. I know it makes sense as per Arty's storyline, but I just can't get past the way it looks. I'm also not a big fan of the sets with the really narrow head pieces, like the BK and SK helmets. The Arty set kinda does that too.

I find it refreshing when guys care about the way they look in games. I don't much care for the Black & Silver Knight helmets either. To me, they look like bunny ears.

i haven't worn the dark armour for a long while but if i remember correctly, a fully upgraded set of dark armour is stronger than Thorn, Brass, Adventurer's, Eastern and Favour sets (all fully upgraded). i think it is even stronger that Ornstein's, but that set doesn't upgrade.

it seems to me that the dark set is a pretty solid medium armour or am i missing something?

Glad it's not just me who thinks the Artorias stuff looks ridiculous. To be honest, my favorite combo is:

Hollow Thief's Hood
Wanderer Coat
Silver Knight Leggings
Any Gauntlets

For heavy stuff, I recently tried the Giant set and really liked it. Armor looks a bit like football gear, the the physical protection is through the roof.

IMHO the mask works really well as a replacement helm for the armor of Thorns set.

Well I've tried just about every combination for the 4 Kings, so I guess I'll give the Giant's set a go.

In my opinion Gaints is the best set for PVE , I sometimes sub in mask of the child for things that hit hard and fast , like Manus. That with a good shield Havels and Wolf ring and you can just about tank anything.

I wouldn't say it's a bad set. Plenty of better sets, sure, but it's certainly not bad. The armour pieces, the helmet in particular, look very nice too.

I recently put the Dark Mask on the Golem Set. I suddenly felt an irresistible urge to terminate stuff.
