I would say avoid an elemental Washing Pole, with the nerf your better of with a +15 & pine resin even at minimum dex. The buckler is great at luring parries as most players forget it's special, but if your low on extra weight dark hand is the way to go.
DWGR is still useful however the light roll attack with the claws is devastating when you need to poke and dodge.
EDIT: Re-read the title, forget claws and use the chaos blade for its 1hand R2 slash, otherwise the iato is a must. As for armor maybe shadow or dark chest with Artorias' limbs, with or without the knights helm as his visor.
