LOTR build idea

I love Lord of the Rings and today I was thinking I could do Aragon style build in Dark Souls. The only thing that struck me as strange though was that I would need to invest in high in Dex for the Black Bow of Pharis to scale and also high in strength because Aragon wields a greatsword. My question to you is "is there a better way to disperse my stats for a lvl 120 build?"

Isn't Narsil a Longsword? I may be mistaken though. If it is then you won't need as much strength.

Armor? Something light.

Wander's set maybe? Suits the Dunedain look I think.

I'm curious why you've concluded that Narsil/Anduril was a greatsword. If you go with the silver knight straightsword instead of a greatsword, you can cut back on your str investment in return for a little more vit and dex. The sks is also a beautiful and underused weapon.

Technically, I think his swords are both Bastard Swords...

But I'd say you could use a Bastard Sword, a Silver Knight Sword or the Great Lord Greatsword and all of them would work. Just no Claymore...unless you really want to (I just think it'd be a bit of a cop-out choice). Also, I'd go so far as to say the Black Knight Sword could work, too, if you don't mind giving yourself a slight bit of creative liberty.

Also, if you plan on PvP do yourself a favor and use the Composite Bow.

I actually have a faith-ranger build that is my favorite of mine so far...not an Aragorn (it's actually based off my friend who always plays as a magic character, so I ironically utilized pretty much everything except magic), but if you're interested, PM me and I can give you the deets. I understand if you'd rather build it yourself, though.

why not just get enough dex for the composite bow and make it fire? that way you wont need a lot of dex if you dont want to.

^ This. Gold Hemmed and a greatsword, PvP with a friend or two who have the same exact set.. (super ironic Nazgul are afraid of fire but the gold hemmed has best Fire resist.)

I've been considereing an Orc build but finding matching armor is a pain. Nothing fits

For Aragorn build definitely Wanderer set, Narsil was a longsword, but he Two Handed it a lot.

All great suggestions, especially the composite bow one as it scales evenly with strength and dexterity with is C rating. I thought about the Black Knight Sword but it get a lot of hate(doesn't it??). Silver knight sword was also a good idea. For armor i was thinking chain-mail top with hunter default for the rest.

The sword doesn't, but the axe does, but in any case I don't think hate matters in terms of weapons just use what you want to use. I still stand by my wanderer suggestion if you're going for the 'ranger' look, but if you're going for the 'king Aragon' look I'd go for gwyns crown helmet thing with the elite knight chest piece.

I was going for more of the battle for Helm's Deep Aragon but your king Aragon idea interests me greatly.

Oh I see, helms deep Aragon sounds fiddly to pull off, and I'm not sure that people would recognise you, but if that doesn't matter to you, carry on and good luck.

Yeah, the BK Greataxe is what gets a lot of flack. The Black Knight Sword isn't as OP or have such a seemingly ridiculous hitbox (I swear to god that axe hits me from a up to like 10 feet away).

I never read the books (only The Hobbit), but Narsil, which turns into Anduril, is easily a hand-and-a-half sword (Bastard Sword) in the films.

For the duration of the films, though, he does use a regular Longsword (which I'd most equate to the Silver Knight Sword).

I thought as much, the image of him charging forth duel wielding a greatsword was very fresh in my mind.
Bastard sword is a good idea, not too ridiculously large.

At the battle of Helms deep he had a tunic on over his chainmail so the chainmail top wouldn't work, Wanderer seems best still.

Jagged Ghost knives would look great.

And Legolas doesn't hold his bow at an angle but vertical (Like you're supposed to)

I had a legolas build in mind along with the aragorn build but I felt it was too much of a nuisance to have to switch form a bow in the right hand and nothing in the left to dual knifes in the right and left. With aragorn i can just switch out my right hand and BAM sword or bow no need for the left hand

But you have one thing lacking from an Aragon build..........the beard!

You CAN actually put a beard!

I got it after asking myself how Laurentius has a beard

Character creation screen, advanced settings, Mouth and Chin, Beard colour, put black and increases the intensity = there you go!

More of a facial fuzz than facial hair

no. it only looks like 1 when he uses it because he's supposed to be like 8 feet tall. its a greatsword in the hands of all non-elves.

Here's how I'd do it:

Aragorn (in Strider mode):

Balder side sword, Bandit's knife, Longbow

Hollow thief's hood, Leather armor, Brigand gauntlets, Knight leggings



Gimli:

Crescent axe, Gargoyle shield

Cleric armor, Cleric leggings, Silver knight gauntlets, Hollow warrior helm



Legolas:

I'll do Sauron with demon's great hammer and Ring of Favor and protection

try Isildur with straight sword hilt.

Noo! Sauron has a normal Mace! Not a hammer.
I think it broken should be the "Broken Sword" Since it fits the description in the books perfectly.
(About a foot past the hilt then ends in a shatter)

Leather armor (Chest piece up for debate. Hands should be Iron cuffs)
Duel Priscillica's Dagger (matches perfectly!)
