Killed a player and got 260016234 souls.

I killed him with a dark bead spam because he was healing and had 5000 HP... I want to use the souls, because I'm on a quest to level 700... but I also feel like they are tainted...

Thoughts? What should I do?

You should use them as you see fit. If he had that much health he was a modder and so killing him is an achievement.
Those souls may be gained from a tainted user but against a healer they are rightfully earned.

^This. Also, there should be no way to get that many souls in one kill. I think the max for a host is 3.5 million?

It's 35 mil for a host, 42 mil with the silver serpent ring.
I got that many souls from a single kill, as a phantom.

Well if he put up a decent fight then you beat a player equivalent to slvl 1000, you earned them treat yourself to something nice.

If the player died like a pushover then just use them to buy consumables and arrows, tetinite ect. 999 lightning bolts and gough's arrows are 1348650 souls alone and that doubles if you don't have any.

You may never need them but you'll never have to buy them either.

He put up a hell of a fight, we'd been battling for 30 minutes. He used 20 flasks, and then started using divine blessings so I spammed him.
I used the souls, now I got 99 Vitality, Dex, Strength, Int, and 50 attunement.

In case anyone was wondering my Pursuers now does 700 damage per mini-ball.

That would cost too few souls, just upgrade everything you can to maximum and then buy the max amount of every possible item in the game. You should then have enough to buy every item in the game again.

This wealth was clearly intended to turn you into a giftwraith.

I agree. You earn what you earn. As long as you weren't cheating yourself, I don't think you should take issue with your actions.

Both forests? How is the royal forest, mostly hunting I'd imagine, or do you use the bit before Arty's fog?

I see people fight a lot in Artorias' boss arena.

Not knowing the Royal Wood/Township etiquette the few times I've been invaded I've been pushed inside the arena.

35 mil? Are you sure about that? What does it say it takes you to lvl up at lvl 700?

According to my math your saying it would take a lvl 700 player 70 mil souls to lvl up....becuase its half what it takes a person to lvl if you kill an invader as a host and 10% if your the invader and kill a host!

Yeah rynn, I don't think that's right, as glatts says. I was under the impression that the cost for leveling up at 700 was 7 million, not 70. The most I've gotten from one kill in the forest (as a hunter) was 700,000, and the guy was max level.

After literally 1000's of darkwraith invasions the most I have ever gotten was 745 000 souls....I msg'd the guy because I saw he was american and he said he was sl 715 so I'm confused?

As far as I knew Ghadis is right being around 7 mil souls...of course it could be a bit higher Ghadis depending on the starting class certain classes could be higher!

I have a sl 350 hunter and he takes around 1.4 million to lvl....so if I died as a vader he would give 700 000 to the host....if I died as a host I would give 140 000 to the vader!

Well Mugen says it's 8207906 souls to level up, and I guess I looked at the number, got confused, and added a digit. That's 3.5 mil, you're right.

Ya that makes sense Rynn there is some class variance also so I could see it being from 7.5 to over 8 mil!

The most I have got in the forest invading is actually just over 1 mil souls but from 2 max lvl players tho. 750K from the host and 350k from his phantom as you get less from there phantoms of course!

My hunter is almost perfect I think he's around 370 maybe but he never stops lvling stats so far are 99 vit 19 att 99 end 50 str/dex/int/fth! I need to get that att up tho lol!

There is some sort of hack or save edit or glitch that causes the player to give a lot of souls when killed....an impossible amount of souls. I have fought several of them on PC, the most notorious one was a player on the Depths (I was invading as SL 20). This player took a ton of punishment and eventually died, netting me about 890k souls (keep in mind I was a phantom). It has happened to me in Anor Londo as well, host that didn't seem too high level dropped 834k souls, and in the Township, a host dropped 990k souls.

I said the Depths one was the most notorious case as the host had starting equipment, unupgraded weapons, etc. He didn't seem to be a max stat monster....
